Southern Florida - Holiday Lights?

Where are the impressive commercial or residential lights worth seeing in southern Florida (eg Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Miami Beach, Keys etc) this coming holiday season?

It has been some years, but I remember a large commercial lights display near the National Enquirer HQ in Lantana and a private residence just off I-95 in maybe Dania, between Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale.

The Intercoastal is a nice trip as well but you need a boat.

Thank you, OB one, for the invaluable information.

I am also interested in neighbourhood streets, which may have a heavy concentration of holiday lights, associated with their homes, as is seen in a variety of North American cities.

These two south florida TV stations will begin featuring holiday homes on their broadcasts this week. The addresses and directions are usually added to the website so viewers can visit.

Ihave heard that one can see lights of the homes along the intracoastal highway, north of Ft. Lauderdale; what is the best way to see the lights - from the road, or from a boat cruise?

If one wants to go on a boat cruise, do any depart from Miami Beach?

Funny you should ask this, as I just got through reading Dave Barry.

Ft.Laud has a boat parade with Christmas lights, I think in early or mid Dec. The intracoastal homes are best viewed from the water. There is a short cruise on the Jungle Queen that will take you to everything worth seeing. Don't know what there is to see at Christmas.

There's one of those drive-thru parks with Christmas light displays off 95 near Pompano.

Stagedoor Suzie:

I can not find the addresses of the highlighted homes, on the web sites of the 2 TV stations.

Why all of a sudden do they call them Holiday lights instead of Christmas lights? To the best of my knowledge, they're Christmas themed and residential lights are put up primarily by Christians.

We will be staying in Fort Lauderdale from Xmas to New Years.

Has the availalbility of lights (either at commercial or residential locations) changed, since I originally asked the question in 2003?

A suggestion for now. The water taxi in Ft Lauderdale probably has a good route for Christmas lights. They are relatively inexpensive. They have a stop at the New River. I will look up more info on them.
Where are you staying in Fort lauderdale?

I am staying at the Marriott timeshare. I believe its address is something like 12 South Ft. Lauderdale Beach Blvd.

Here is the web site for the Water Taxi.

There are also a couple of tour boats. I think one leaves from the Riverfront. http://goriverwalk.com/dining.htm and look at the bottom of the page.
