Key West Questions

We will be in Key West for about a week in mid-April and have a few questions that we hope some members of the FT community can answer for us:

1) we are staying at a condo, but would like to spend an afternoon at pool with a bar (preferably swim up) -- are there any hotels or other locales that would permit us (just two) to spend a few hours at their pool (provided that we were purchasing drinks and food, of course)?

2) is there a farmers' market in Key West? If so, what day/where? I found a little information about one that used to be held on Thursday mornings, but have been unable to confirm if it is still in operation.

3) any suggestions on where I can take a class to learn to make a key lime pie (clich, I know...)? The only place I could find has students make mini-pies. If I'm making a pie, I want to be able to take a full size one back to the condo to share!

Thank you for any suggestions!

It appears there will be a market on 8 April, but then they are done until next winter:

I am not positive but you may want to check out the two Waldorf branded properties.

I've used a deal at The Southernost House Hotel (at the very southern end of Duval street) where for an entrance fee anyone can use their pool and facilities all day. It was $20 pp the last time I used it. It's been a while so I'm not sure if they still offer this option. They also don't let people use it when there are large events (e.g. weddings) at the property so call ahead.

There is a pool bar at Dante's in the Key West Historic Seaport (the old Toxic Triangle) which is free for all with or without buying any food or drinks. The Artisan Market isn't really a farmers market more like a craft show but worthwhile either way. There is a farmer-like market on Stock Island, The Grove on 1st street behind Roostica Pizza open Friday and Saturday, I think. For Key Lime pie cooking ask Martin Liz at the Lost Kitchen Supper Club also on Stock island. If he doesn't he would know.
