Interlining at lim?

I am looking into flights later in the year from mpn to the USA.

There is about £300/$500 difference between direct flights scl-USA and those interlining at lim.

But...

There is only one flight per week scl-mpn, so big consequences if things go wrong.

How reliable (in general - I know there are no certainties in life) are baggage transfers and connections at lim?

PS sorry if this is a dumb question but my view is that the dumbest questions are the ones you DON'T ask! ;-)

LIM is a pretty reliable and efficient airport. Int'l-Int'l connections are fairly easy (go to transit security, and then go back upstairs) - there are some customer service counters just past the transit security prior to going upstairs. NO guarantee your connecting airline, depending on when you arrive/depart will have someone there. Hopefully you can build a long connection. The airport is very crowded in the midnight hour.
