No, not at all. We stayed at le Narcisse Blanc in Paris earlier this month, prices were exactly the same through Hyatt and the property's website. (Earned a boatload of points, it is not a cheap property.) Observed this to be generally true for the Paris SLHs.

Large pricing differentials seem more prevalent in Asia.

Interesting. When I looked at Santorini all of the prices via Hyatt were outrageous compared to SLH.

That's certainly the case in Thailand. OTOH, Rome is IME similar to Paris, in that the Hyatt rate tends to track the property's own rates.

A good reminder to check other channels before booking SLH through Hyatt.

I just pulled the trigger and booked two nights at Cape Fahn on points. Will book the other two nights for my stay with cash, and check periodically if award nights open up. I am Explorist through status matches today, but I think I might lose that prior to the stay. Just hoping I don't have to pay for that awesome breakfast Thanks all for the input, hoghly appreciated and we are very much looking forward to staying at this wonderful property!

Absolutely stunning! (22 Photos)

Cape Fahn Hotel

Cape Fahn has intrigued me since it opened four years ago. A small Thai chain it is bookable via SLH and now Hyatt.

We had booked this pre Covid and finally made it this year.

I originally booked a Deluxe Ocean Villa on a hald board package, primarily because we had no itention of leaving the hotel that is on its own private island. I communicated with the hotel my preference for a quiet room with privacy and a good view.

Check In

We were driven from the airport to a Hospitality Lounge on the shore of the mainland. From there a special truck took us 2 mins across shallow water.

I could hear a wedding from the mainland and I began to dread the stay. I'm a light sleeper and given there are only 22 villas I was concerned we wouldn't be able to escape the noise.

I did tell the hotel that I was a Glob, despite booking direct.

Check in was swift, they didn't even take a cc pre auth because I prepaid. I asked if we would hear the wedding from the room and the check in agent assured us we would not and we were upgraded to the Horizon Pool Villa.

Room

Because of the late PG flight ex SIN, we arrived at 10PM. I hate arriving at beach destinations at night when you can't see the view, but upon entering the private gates of the villa I knew the stay was going to be special.

The Villa is 350sqm and all of the bay windows completely open for a true indoor/outdoor living experience. The villas are decorated in neutral tones, everything is of a high quality and even the a/c is discreetly hidden.

The pool is 10 x 3 metres and we had completely unobstructed views of the ocean.

The room type came with complimentary mini bar (including two beers) and every night housekeeping left a little turndown gift.

The villa is one of the nicest I've experienced and it is as memorable as the Pool Villas at the FS Hoi An and the Cliff Villa at the RC Bali.

Service

The service has blown me away. It rivals FS or Rosewood in terms of attentiveness, the willingness of the staff to go above ans beyond and responsiveness of requests.

They have their own app which is how I primarily communicated all requests.

Anything you request is delivered within 5 mins. All of the staff know our names and our dietary requirements. Meals had dietary substitutions already arranged for us.

When we arrived they sent up club sandwhiches after check in because we missed dinner. This set the tone for the entire stay.

I certainly didn't expect this luxury level of service.

Dining

The food is exceptional. Long D'Tai has a Michelin Star, however the quality of the food extends to Hue and room service as I believe it all comes from the same kitchen.

Sparkling Wine is offered at breakfast and there's an extensive menu.

On one night it was raining so the staff proactively sent us the menu and delivered all three courses and cocktails to our room.

We never saw more than three other couples at breakfast or dinner.

Overall

Overall, Cape Fahn is a truly unique and special property. It exceeded all of my expectations.

The service, rooms and complete experience make it a slice of Heaven on Earth and we will definitely return.

We enjoyed this far more than the PH Maldives Hadahaa.

Absolutely stunning!

Thank you all. I don’t need likes. I simply wanted to share our fabulous experience because as others have noted, this property seems to be under the radar for many.

It is booked out for long periods at a time due to the small number of villas.

I found the hotel available with both points and cash for dates of interest to me. Both were nonrefundable. Unfortunately, that makes it uninteresting. It would be high risk to book something more than six months out and have to forfeit money or points if my travel plans change.

Edited to update; flexible bookings are available when booked directly with the hotel.

I rarely book prepaid. This was a rare occasion.

IME, contact the hotel reservations team and they will offer flexible rates.

Might also be worth asking them to match a Luxury Escapes or other packages direct.

Captivated by the Conrad Koh Samui (44 Photos)

Conrad Koh Samui

Just finished 5 nights at the Conrad USM and I'm uttely shocked at how maginifcent the stay was.

We booked The Royal Villa, a 450sqm two storey villa. After Cape Fahn with just 22 villas, I expected the Conrad with 87 villas to be much, much busier, but it is designed with peace and serenity in mind. They picked us up from Cape Fahn in an Alphard with cold towels and Coconuts.

I had made some requests pre arrival directly with the GM Ruben and the hotel was swift to resspond.

Check In

We were greeted by the GM and Anne on arrival who spent an hour getting to know us. I told them I wasn't a Hilton fan, had no experience with Conrad and he told us they are the best in the chain and hope to impress us. It was a very, very warm welcome. The hotel's footprint is massive. It's a 10 min, windy buggy ride from reception to our room. Despite this, you barely see any other guests.

Our passports were taken, no need for a pre auth and were driven to our room and given a full hotel tour.

Room

The hotel website photos do not do The Royal Villa justice. There's a landing upstairs and you walked downstairs into a foyer with direct views of the Gulf of Thailand. It's not very often I am wowed by a hotel, but this room made my jaw drop.

The villa is stunning with custom Chandliers, Thai sculptures, a round bed, double shower with steam room, full kitchen, dining table for 6 that could easily fit 12, 1.5 bathrooms and a 22.5 metre private infinity pool with sunken dining table. it's the biggest private pool we have ever experienced.

On the bed were two Conrad Teddy Bears with our names on them!

Welcome amenities including the biggest fruit basket I have ever receieved, Thai sweet and savoury canapes, and the full size fridge was full of San Pell, Coconuts, Soft drinks, Salmon, Cream Cheese, Capers, fesh Lemons and around 12 kombuchas they make at their local farm.
What took the cake was the fridge had 12 home made ice creams with our names on them! I have never experienced anything like this in any hotel. The villa host stated that none of the items had Pork Products or alcohol. We laughed because, despite my name, I do eat Bacon and we do drink. She immediately sent up for a bottle of wine they were holding. But this set the tone for the stay on the level of anticipatoon by the staff.

We spent the majority of the stay in our room and the pool. The Sunsets from the room were simply magical.

The hotel is currently upgrading its streaming services, so when we asked they delivered a True TV Box and HDMI cable that meant we were able to watch our TV shows and movies at night.

Service

Service was a definite stand out. At all times our needs were anticipated. All of the staff knew our dietaries and varied ingredients accordingly. Everything we asked for was delivered plus more. The GM checked on us every day.

Our coffees and food orders were delivered and refilled without asking. Almost everything was anticipated. At breakfast the staff made us specials and delivered them to our table which was a delightful touch. I absolutely did not expect this.

We primarily communicated with the hotel through the HHonors app which was very efficient.

They knew on day one we preferred housekeeping while were out of the room and it was performed while we were out at breakfast. They cleaned the pool at the same time.

Turndown occured nightly with little gifts each evening.

Dining

Food is of a high quality, much sourced from the local farm that they offered a tour of, but we declined preferring to enjoy the pool.

Other than breakfast we mainly ordered room service. Again, Anne said we could order anything from any restaurant to the room. The Club Sandwich on the menu is an Indian version and we were craving a standard Club and the hotel delivered promptly.

All orders arrived within 20 mins.

On our final night we had dinner in Jahn, their steakhouse, and it was a theatrical experience with exceptionally good food and wine. Pia who was also at breakfast looked after us. She said that the staff said they stagger dinner reservations so it never feels busy in line with the hotel's ambience. The Blue Cheese Chopped Salad is to die for and the Australian meats very, very good.

I won't spoil what Jahn has to offer but it is so much more than what is advertised.

Overall, I am simply captivated by this Conrad.

I am used to FS or Rosewood style service and that is what we received. The GM Ruben and Ann are very hands on and it shows from the top down. The staff are all very proud to work here and they provide a level of service in true Thai hospitality style that means that we will return each year.

I don't believe there are any bad villas at this property. We didn't have a Five Islands view yet the views all around are beautiful.

The Royal Villa is extremely special and provides a sense of space, tranquility and indoor/outdoor living that I can only compare to the RC Cliffe Villa in Bali or the FS Hoi Ann One Bedroom Pool Villas.

We were truly wowed on this stay and it felt like Paradise on Earth.

After Cape Fahn with just 22 villas, I expected the Conrad with 87 villas to be much, much busier, but it is designed with peace and serenity in mind. They picked us up from Cape Fahn in an Alphard with cold towels and Coconuts.I had made some requests pre arrival directly with the GM Rueben and the hotel was swift to resspond. Check In We were greeted by the GM and Anne on arrival who spent an hour getting to know us. Room The hotel website photos do not do The Royal Villa justice. On the bed were two Conrad Teddy Bears with our names on them!Welcome amenities including the biggest fruit basket I have ever receieved, Thai sweet and savoury canapes, and the full size fridge was full of San Pell, Coconuts, Soft drinks, Salmon, Cream Cheese, Capers, fesh Lemons and around 12 kombuchas they make at their local farm. Service Service was a definite stand out. At all times our needs were anticipated. All of the staff knew our dietaries and varied ingredients accordingly. Everything we asked for was delivered plus more. The GM checked on us every day.Our coffees and food orders were delivered and refilled without asking. Almost everything was anticipated. At breakfast the staff made us specials and delivered them to our table which was a delightful touch. I absolutely did not expect this.We primarily communicated with the hotel through the HHonors app which was very efficient. Dining Food is of a high quality, much sourced from the local farm that they offered a tour of, but we declined preferring to enjoy the pool.Other than breakfast we mainly ordered room service. Again, Anne said we could order anything from any restaurant to the room. The Club Sandwich on the menu is an Indian version and we were craving a standard Club and the hotel delivered promptly. All orders arrived within 20 mins.On our final night we had dinner in Jahn, their steakhouse, and it was a theatrical experience with exceptionally good food and wine. Pia who was also at breakfast looked after us. She said that the staff said they stagger dinner reservations so it never feels busy in line with the hotel's ambience. The Blue Cheese Chopped Salad is to die for and the Australian meats very, very good.I won't spoil what Jahn has to offer but it is so much more than what is advertised. You had two stunning stays. If you could only stay at one property, would you choose Cape Fehn or Conrad Koh Samui?

Both. They differ.

Ugh, I asked mods to move to the Conrad thread.
