lounge access at JNB?
I looked around and couldn't find anything recent about this. Flying over in Y on DL in May. Both KL and AF have lounges, but all I see written about them is that only "eligible Sky Team Elite Plus members" are allowed in. Does that mean I have to be flying KL or AF to get into their respective lounges? That's the way it looks on KL's website. Thanks for any feedback. Ed

My understanding of the rules is that since you are CO Platinum and CO is still officially in Skyteam (at least for now), and CO Platinum is Skyteam Elite Plus status, and DL is a Skyteam member, and the DL flight is international in nature.....
You are entitled to complimentary access to either the AF or KL lounge (or both if you choose).
This is provided that the KL and AF lounges are operated by AF/KL and not subcontracted lounges. Subcontract lounges (such as TLV or BOM) don't count.
If you search around on the CO website under Skyteam Elite Benefits, you would find this little gem:
SkyTeam Partner Lounge Access: Platinum Elite members traveling in Economy Class enjoy complimentary access to most SkyTeam partner lounges worldwide. Simply present your same-day ticket for an international SkyTeam airline flight. As a OnePass Platinum Elite/SkyTeam Elite Plus passenger, you can even invite a guest to join you in the lounge.

KLM does not have a lounge in JNB. Over the last year AF/KL have a brand new lounge in JNB under the Air France concept. I used the lounge last week and it is excellent, it has 2 showers and it is open from 6am until 1am.

As such, you should have access to the AF lounge as a CO PLT. Remember to take your valid CO PLT card with you as proof.
