Best Switch from AA?
Hi FT,
LTFT poster. I'm an American Plat thinking of switching over to skyteam. I do a good deal of Domestic/European travel (with the definite possibility of being ordered to travel somewhere else in the world for business). I live in New York City and my employer uses Continental and also a bit of Delta and NW.
As I said before, I'm thinking about surrendering to SkyTeam (flying American has been difficult), but does it make sense to use OnePass as my place to accumulate miles? I'm most interested in status right now--which program should I use to accumulate miles and status points?
Thanks.

If I was you select the airlines program on which you will fly the most. If you are going to be flying Continental more then Delta then select their program but one thing I have to mention with Continental. Deep Discounted fares only earn 50% EQM with everyone unless you are a onepass member and book at continental.com. Also if you fly other airlines that are in lower fare class and post to your continental account that also posts at 50% EQM. Something to look out for.
Here are the pages from both.

On my side I normally try to fly Delta and post to my Delta skymiles account. When flying Continental I try to get a fare that isn't deep discount so all of the MQM post.

I made the switch from DL to CO a few years back. CO will still treat you like a human! If you have status with CO you are eligable for upgrades on NW as well. If you are located in Manhattan then EWR is not an issue either.
There are also some interesting posts in the DL forum about the devaluation of their FF program you might want to read.
