Skyteam to SIN?

Skyteam to SIN?
Okay, the title kind of says it all, but here are the particulars...
I will very likely have to go to SIN in early Oct (probably in business class rather than coach).
I'm PM with DL. I figure I should probably go on ST rather than try another alliance as that will pretty much lock PM again for next year. Being based out of SDF doesn't help me many options as far as alliances for where I usually travel (MKE, BWI, LAX). But I'm open to honest suggestions.
Recommendations? Warnings?
What can I look for and look out for?

You can either take NW once you get to NRT or KE from ICN.I flew KE from SIn to ICN in J this past summer and did not find the service to be all that great. The flight from SIN to ICN leaves at 1 AM (give or take) with food service being limited and abit strange (salmon for breakfast at 5:15 AM). If NW is flying their A330's to SIN, I would give them a try instead. I find that the seat is a bit more comfortable and their entertainment system (AVOD) is much better than KE movie loop.
If you plan on paying for the trip, you can credit SQ flights to Delta although I'm not certain about MQM's.

IT does not need any earned more miles on skymiles. You would need to put on NW for stopover in NRT then you will continues to SIN or ICN is good place to go.

Another option would be to go east either on Air France via Paris or KLM via Amsterdam. Don't know how this routing might play out in terms of cost and convenience, but worth a look. Once took Air France via Paris to Ho Chi Minh because departure and connection times worked better than available trans-Pacific Skyteam possibilities.

Easiest and probably cheapest is to just take NW via DTW/MSP and NRT.
Sometimes it's a bit cheaper to route with an extra stop via the west coast between NW's midwestern hubs and NRT (usually the stop is in LAX or PDX). If you really want to juice more miles out of it, you can also route via HNL--which sometimes knocks the price down even more. On the way to SIN, routing via HNL requires an overnight. But on the way back, you can get a half-day in Hawaii without the need for an overnight.

NW isn't bad but the times are awful. You get in at 1 am and the SIN-NRT-United States flight leaves at 6 am.
SQ has similarly timed flights but also better ones. They have some that get in late morning and leave for the US in the mid morning. They also have the LAX and EWR non-stops that are timed more for the NY and LA people but aren't bad for others going to other US cities. The coach seats on the non-stops are better than coach with about 5 inches more legroom and better services. It's sort of like Coach plus or Business minus. It's called Executive Economy. There is no regular coach or cattle class on the nonstops.

I would definitely go KE over NW. I've just flown them ATL-ICN and then ICN-BKK (and back) and I have to say it was one of the most painless TPAC flights (in coach no less!) that I've been on in a long time. Good service, good food, decent IFE, comfortable seats.
