I agree. I just did the same (except back via DFW) over Labor Day. It was most enjoyable. It certainly helped that the seat next to me was empty for three of the four KE flights. If you want the Medallion bonus miles and the MQM's, take KE. If you want superior service and don't mind the extra time en route, take SQ. SQ's Executive Economy product on the nonstops is a class of its own, so to speak, and I'd say that introduces other considerations (principally more $$$); but if that's what you're looking for, I would recommend it.
