Looking for Discounted Business for CLE-BKK
I am looking for a discounted Business Class fare, preferably on the Sky Team Network so I can earn miles on Continental ONEPass. I am traveling from CLE to BKK departing on Jan. 24, 2007 and returning on Feb. 20, 2007. I will be a visiting doctor at a hospital in the region during my visit. Does anyone have any suggestions for airfare, if business doesnt work I can always do coach? My dates arent set in stone yet so I can be flexible.

Consider EVA via Tapei
EVA Airlines (BR) is not Sky Team, but is a CO partner. All EVE flights will get you CO mile points, but for EQMs you need to get a CO codeshare (I think, I live in ATL so obviously don't fly CO )
The RT Biz fares are from about $1800 from the west cost (LAX/SFO/SEA). But you can chose an executive economy (called Evergreen Deluxe) that will run about $1000, seats are much more flyable than coach across the Pacific. [They have some kind of funky 2-tier pricing scheam that will try and sell you inventory over 50% more expensive, don't fall for it]

EVA flights earn both miles and EQM for CO Onepass.

Sometimes it is less expensive to buy a one way ticket to BKK, and then buy the return in Biz class. Tickets may be pretty expensive in that time frame, as it's a busy time.
When I check EVA LAX-BKK, I find a RT fare of $3300 or so in Biz.

Pricing backwards (BKK->LAX->BKK) I saw Bix at 69,000 Thai Bhat, which will be under $2000 USD. I realise this ticket doesn't help, but that does tell you what the discount tickets are sold at. You might well never see this price in the US originated flights off the website in this timeframe, but consolidators probably have some (though late Jan is tough because of Chinease new year).
Though I prefer doing business off the web, I would definitely go to an agent or broker before paying $3000 for this ticket.
All said, if I was the OP I would grab that $811+tax Evergreen Delux ticket ASAP. It can not be beat.

I have purchased said ticket in the past for under 2K, and I am flying BKK->LAX->BKK right now for about $1800, so they really exist. May not be any left for Jan though.

I bought a KE Biz class ticket early this year for under $1600, all in from a TA in BKK. (BKK-LAX-BKK) The last time I checked it was $100-$150 more, but still available. It would earn full mileage plus COS bonus as well. These tickets are great, since you can change the ticket any time you want, are good for a year. I've changed my ticket 3 times already.

OTOH, thanks for your point out of the cheap KE backwards fairs. I fly Delta, so the MQMs that way may be very helpfull.

I would be quite surprised to see a $1800 RT C fare US-BKK, even on BR.
The cheapest C fares from the West Coast are $1,325+ (PR) and $1,588+ (BR) one-way. DL/KE/CI/OZ are around $2,000 one-way. You may be able to do better than that when using consolidators, but the best option seems to be a combination of BR E+ to BKK and a one-way/rt ex-BKK (from $850+ one-way/$1,500+ rt).

BR has a 1831$+ OW fare from CLE to BKK if that gives you what you need on CO, grab it and then take a KE fare back one way.
Though I think it is usually not worth doing it from any city but the west coast. Take a cheap ticket to LAX and then do a OW from LAX to BKK and then buy a ticket from BKK. If you plan to go back, do buy a return ticket and you got a source of miles in premium class for cheap!
