EQM question in T

hey all

say you have a fare class T on continental metal crediting to a delta FF account....would you only get 50% EQMs?

Is the same true if you have a fare class T on delta metal crediting to a continental FF account?

thanks in advance!

Each Skyteam airline has its own rules for which fares on which airlines earn how many EQMs (or "MQMs" as DL calls them).

In your case, since you said you'd be crediting to a DL FF account, the rules you have to research are DL's rules. DL's MQM rules are here:

http://www.delta.com/skymiles/about_...ions/index.jsp

Note that each airline has its own fare class system. On CO, for example, a T fare is more expensive than an L fare, while on DL and NW T is cheaper than L. In some cases the differences are quite drastic, such as CO K fares (which are among the most expensive coach fares) compared with NW K fares (which are the cheapest fares NW offers).

To complicate things further, codeshares confuse things even more, since the "coding" carrier determines the fare class you buy, while the miles you earned are determined according to the rules for the operating carrier (i.e., the metal) you actually fly. For example, if you buy a DL "B" fare on CO metal, you should get 150% MQMs, while a CO "B" fare on CO metal would earn only 100% MQMs. Meanwhile, a CO "K" fare on any metal would earn you 100% MQMs, while a NW "K" fare will earn 100% MQMs on NW or DL metal, but only 50% MQMs on CO metal.

All of that said, the answer to your original question is yes: a CO T fare on CO metal earns only 50% SkyMiles MQMs. And a DL T fare on DL metal earns only 50% OnePass EQMs.

You can if you just buy more expensive fares. On many routes on CO, the difference in price between the cheapest fare available and the cheapest 100% EQM fare available is as little as $20-50.
