Question SkyTeam to GUM?

Okay, so I just found out today that I will likely have to go to GUM in a little over two weeks for a stay of about 2 weeks. What would be the best way to go on SkyTeam. BTW, I do get to go Business class. Since I'm a PM that also makes me a STE+. I'd like to make the most of that, including lounge acces, etc.

What routing / airline / equipment / seating / etc. / etc. / etc. suggestions would any of you recommend.

PS - due to the short notice, I've got to act quickly to book - you folks likely know the drill. I'm totally open to suggestions for the next 48 - 72 hrs.

TIA

Play with http://www.skyteam.com/EN/travelPlan...ules/index.jsp for your different flight permutations.

In business class, CO through NRT would be hard to pass up.

The quickets route would probably be CO. You can route SDF-IAH-HNL-GUM. The IAH-GUM would be on a 767 with BF seats, there is also a PC in HNL, but the stop there is pretty short.

CO2195 6:45a 8:18a SDF IAH EMB145
CO01 9:35a 6:50p+1 IAH GUM 767 (1 Stop in HNL, time on ground 1h15m)

Total travel time 21h5m

Return

CO02 7:10a 7:00a GUM IAH 767 (1 Stop in HNL, time on ground 1h25m)
CO3049 7:45a 11:02a IAH SDF

Total travel time 18h52m

Any routing through Asia would add a couple hours.

For several years, I traveled to GUM once per quarter from LEX and have taken almost every conceivable ST routing. Given your circumstances, I'd have to agree with TTT...take CO through HNL. HNL-GUM is flown as an international segment, so expect full-on BF service from a very attentive cabin crew.

My other piece of advice...stop overnight in HNL both ways, if you can. Flying straight through is a killer and HNL is a great place to break the trip, get some rest, and unwind before continuing. The arrival and departure times make this easy and I NEVER regretted the extra time it added to the trip.

Forgot to mention: This seems counter-intuitive since GUM is part of the USA, but take your passport. They ask for it in Guam when you arrive and depart. I suppose to they'll let you in and out without it, but I've never seen anyone try.

take CO through HNL.

I fly back and forth between GUM and the mainland 5-6 times a year and usually take NW in WBC. But I do prefer the service on CO's BF on flights 001/002.

If you can -do the overnight stay in HNL. And while you're here - stay at the Hyatt, Hilton, or Westin. Those would be your best bets....the Marriott is nice, but needs updating. All other hotels would be a waste.

Happy travels

Hotels

Taking this a little further, if you would like hotel information on Guam, I recommend the Hilton, The Outrigger, The Westin, or the Hyatt. Note however that Outrigger, Hyatt, & Westin are in convenient areas very close to the main shopping and eateries in Tumon. The Hilton is at the other end of the strip, but is also very nice.

We also have a newly renovated hotel, The Fiesta with it's rooms designed to match that of the "W' Hotels...very modern and classy.

Enjoy your stay in Guam, and since you will be here for 2 weeks, go to the Chamorro Village's night market held every Wednesday evening offering a number of cultural items, foods, and entertainment.

Thanks for the tips everyone.

I had to book due to very high loads / sold out flights. The options were disappearing very quickly. Apparently, Asia is very popular for spring break.

I got a flt from SDF-DTW-NRT-GUM on NW in WBC. The routing through NRT was recommended by other associates who have traveled there. I think I've read various things here about the 744. I also booked my stay at the Marriott.

Any comments are welcome.
