U.S. to Australia on AirFrance or Alitalia?

Anyone ever successfully booked an award ticket to Oz going Eastward?
I'd much prefer new business class on AF to KE's, for example.

Any advice or war stories would be much appreciated.

I believe you could do it,but you'd need many more miles because you are going to book an award through 3 continents:US-Europe-Asia-then OZ!(to my knowledge there's no direct flight from Europe to OZ)somebody might know more about it.

I don't think AZ or AF flies to aus on their own metal. AF timetable lists a CDG-SIN-SYD flight, but SIN-SYD is a QF codeshare.

The only skyteam members that fly to oz on their own metal are CS and KE.

True, but with 120.000 (eco) or 180.000 (biz) AZ Millemiglia miles you can fly from the US or Europe to Australia on a QF fligths on QF metal. No F class award is possible.

Could one redeem NW miles for an Alitalia-coded flight, but operated by Qantas? Or for flight coded AirFrance, but operated by Singapore?

AF operated by SQ does not exist. for AZ / QF codeshares I am not sure. Heard good about KE via ICN in F.

No, you cannot redeem for codeshares on non alliance metal.
Worldperks to australia.. I you can try CS (-GUM-CNS), MH (-KUL-SYD/MEL/PER/ADL) GA (-DPS-SYD/MEL/PER/ADL), TN (-PPT-SYD) or HA (-HNL-SYD). Only CS is a skyteam member, the rest are worldperks partners.

A strong vote for the MH flight, which I think you can book as a partner award through several ST members. Vastly, vastly superior to any of the other options. And (through NW at least) you can book in F.

I meant Singapore, not Qantas, sorry.

I was referring to the SIN-SYD portion. AirFrance sells CDG-SYD tickets with the CDG-SIN coded- and operated- AF, but the SIN-SYD leg coded-AF, but operated by Singapore.
