Which Skyteam FF program

Hi Folks,
I am an UA 2P living in Montreal, Canada. I have already qualified for 2P next year. I have an upcoming trip to India on AF. YUL-CDG-MAA and MAA-CDG-YUL. CDG-MAA is operated on DL metal. I do not have any Skyteam FF membership. Which program would be most beneficial for me given this situation? I could also put in a few transcon mileage runs if I can gain any status.

Cheers
Suresh

What class is your ticket? Some ticket classes do not earn full mileage on AF. Where will your future travels take you? CO might be the best or NW, but their future is cloudy. AF allows you to earn elite priviliges faster than the US counterparts.

Or you could always join MilleMigla which gives you full earnings regardless of booking class. I don't think Alitalia is going bust anytime soon.

Why not go on AC via Toronto - and join the Aeroplan program - notwithstanding your status with a fellow Star Alliance partner? If you join AC, and reach 25,000 status miles, you reach the first tier (eg Prestige) status, and start receiving upgrade certificates - you can not upgrade on AC with any UA certificates? If you live in Montreal, presumably you would likely go on some domestic flights, which can not count towards status miles (QEM) of Sky Team or OW airlines FF plans.

Thumbs up Wp

To make a long story short, World Perks is the best SkyTeam FFP in any respect.

Hi Stimpy,
I am on fare classes H and T, so that would not be a problem. Why do you say that AF allows earning elite privileges faster?

Cheers

Hi Flyergold,
I cannot fly *A this time as I am flying through Paris with a stopover and I would like a comfortable flight back home ;-).

Cheers

It only takes 70K miles to make top Elite Plus in Skyteam with AF and a North American address. Only 40K miles for Gold and an even lower number for regular Elite.

SkyPass (Korean Air) v/s others in SkyTeam

Hi,

Amazing forum to discuss FFPs! Here goes my first post:

I have got 6800 miles in SP and may accumulate 3300 miles in few weeks making me eligible for a free domestic ticket in Korea, which I'll need to give to some friend as I won't be in Korea to use that.

However, after that I may not ever visit Korea and the SkyPass doesn't impress me with higher miles for Elite Status, no bonus miles and so forth. On the other hand, I may need to travel more in Europe/US.

Which program will you recommend out of the SkyTeam? Air France/Delta or NorthWest/other for accruing the miles and reach the Elite Status? I am not a very heavy traveler... do about 50,000 miles in year (mainly on international flights through *A, on which I am a FT). I had a look at the websites and three above seem to be equally good for non-French residents... what is the general opinion?

Thanks.

Unless you are thinking of doing more flights on Skyteam, I'd join Millemigla to maximise mileage earnings.

World Perks is the only program that you can book your Skyteam reward ticket on-line. You can check and book flights availablity of all Skyteam airlines yourself without calling FFP help desk of the airlines.
In Flying Blue, for instance, you can only book Air france and KLM flights online. And the chance of getting a free seat on a long-haul flight is slim, if you choose mini-miles option.
OnePass is not much different form FB, and SkyMiles is as bad as FB.
Based on my experience, award success rate is also higher at WorldPerks.
As an example, my girl friend who WAS a member of now defunct FD program, could not get a KLM flight on her FD online rewad booking tool last year. When I searched for the same flight for my girl friend on my WorldPerks site, it showed KLM flight as available. This was not even rule buster miles.
Others may think differently. So many people, so many minds.

That was my experience too with WP, but YMMV. DL Skymiles members also complained about lack of availability on partners flights.

The only benefit I could see with KLM/AF FB program is that they grant Skyteam top tier "Elite+" status to both their Gold and Elite members (which, as mentioned by another poster, also require less mileage to achieve 40K for Gold, 70K for Plat). NW/CO/ DL only grant Elite+ to their Plats - (however I read somewhere that there where exceptions for US residents, not sure about Canadian residents. Too many complex exceptions based on residencies in my opinion )

With elite+ status you have access to any skyteam lounges on the day you fly international with any skyteam partners.
