stimpy: Is AF or DL able to price and ticket a ST RTW that doesn't start with them as the first carrier? But I don't know of any restriction that says the ticketing carrier has to own the first leg. It can't hurt to call AF or DL and ask. The people who work those desks are ticketing experts. |
Yeah, I too find it very odd why they couldn't ticket it.
I can't get past the front desk. None of the agents knew what a round the World ticket is. I did twice ask for any number or e-mail address for RTW ticketing, just like AF in Lille. Nope, they didn't have it and all three went to a supervisor - useless. The first customer service agent said I can only book using the Skyteam online tool. That's probably her supervisor's reply. The third agent said it's a ST specific fare and they can't ticket on CZ. I did give her the fare basis and said you do have it, but no, it didn't help. FYI: I'm trying to figure out, if an ex-IKA RTW can actually be pulled off (booked and ticketed, that is) with ST. That's why I pester AZ. Right now only AZ have a RTW fare for it, despite 4 ST carries fly there (Tehran). AF and DL won't of course be able to ticket on AZ stock and for DL it's a no-no anyway as I have Cuba on the itienary. I left a service request through the Skyteam RTW web app to Skyteam. No idea who will handle it, if anyone at all. I'm writing a formal feedback to AZ as I received just BS on the phone. Just say that you can't be arsed to ticket it, because there was just one flight with AZ. Don't say it's not in the GDS. Or elaborate that you just don't have staff trained for RTW ticketing and thus you hope any FF books elsewhere. Will have to call AF or DL with some other itienary (probably asking with an ex-ALG) can they sell with someone else being the 1st carrier. At least in the OW realm there seems to be an issue, which is why I was thinking it might be similar with ST. |
Are you calling the AZ number in the US or some other country? If so, try the Italian number instead.
|
I called the Italian number now and guessed my way through the menu in Italian. The first operator spoke Italian, but connected me to an English speaking one.
She knew what a RTW ticket is. Holy smoke! :o The procedure with AZ is as follows: they take down your name and phone number. Within 1-2 working days someone will call you back and take down the details of your itienary. Then they will make a second call to give you a quote. I can't understand why this information was unavailable to all three previous agents? Well, I already filed a complaint and wait to see what they say. Apparently there's someone competent with the RTW stuff, but it's damn well hidden then. |
Like I said, RTW's are a pretty rare thing. It's something like .0000001% of the tickets they sell. That's why they only have a few people who are able to ticket these and why they can't speak to you immediately by phone. Once you have the initial call, maybe you can continue by email. That's what I do with AF anyways.

I think that must be for when a particular leg does not have business, nor first class.
ON LIM-ATL-SFO-HNL, with Delta, I was in J only on LIM-ATL (international flight) 2 other legs were in Y...as there were no J but only F on DL domestic flights On SFO-HNL I paid USD100 (it is a RTW rule in that case) to be in F. IMHO, AF does not sold yet F RTW |

SkyTeam launched a new RTW booking engine on their website it seems. Looks pretty good and more user friendly than the previous version:

Thanks. It's a shame the functionality to show all destinations served directly, 1 stop or 2 stops have been removed.

Is there any restriction about stopping in the same country more than once?
say europe - hkg -xxx szx --- yyy - can --- zzz--- xmn - continue? |
One stopover per same point/ 2 transfers. It says 'same point' not 'same country' in the rules.
