DL flight 08 runs ATL-DXB. You can search the schedule here: http://www.delta.com/schedules/trave.../flight_sched/

I failed to mention that I'm originating in MUC.

It appears AF also goes via CDG, of course delta.dumb won't tell you that.....

We need Emirates or Qatar in ST......

With options like EK, EY, QR, etc, I would avoid DL/AF at all costs. With that said, if you are stuck on ST, AF does fly it direct from CDG twice a day.

Um.. Ever noticed the ST roster? Aeroflot.. Chinese carrier 1.. Kenya... Chinese carrier 2.. Korean.. Chinese 3.. Emirates or Qatar doesn't seem like a logical fit. If not a western carrier, the prerequisite criterion seems to be: communist (or former) or dismal safety records.

AF has a very good service from CDG to DXB and AUH.

MUC to Dubai on Skyteam:

KLM or Air France or Aeroflot.

You can go thru Amsterdam, Moscow or Paris for the connection stop.

First they would need to be degraded to meet ST's rigorous standards.

SkyTeam has very good carriers. As carriers join SkyTeam they improve in quality.

Korean Airlines is underrated and just like Korea itself from automobile manufacturing to electronics and beyond will get even better. Korean Airlines has vastly improved over years past.

The chinese carriers like China Eastern and China Southern are getting better as well.

One can do nicely staying in the Delta alliance over time.

No single alliance will have every route in the world nonstop. However Delta's Skyteam alliance is very good.

There is no one perfect alliance to get you on the best carriers at all time. It doesn't exist.

If you must have the best airlines at all times, you will have to be enrolled in multiple alliances and FF programs. Simple as that.

The comments about EK amuse me...I've flown them and while the IFE and food were great, I hated those flights WRT to service, seat comfort, and leg room (Y tickets)...I had great expectations though and wanted EK to live up to their reputation...

Next long trip will have an EK leg, DXB-MLE. In Y, though. Still interested to see how EK stacks up.

Also get to fly KL for the first time (IAD-DXB). KL can't be THAT bad, can it?
