Earn in DL or AM?

Earn in DL or AM?
I will be flying about once a month to various cities in Mexico from my home base of IAH. The flights will always be with a connection in MEX. In the past I've been DL gold, but since moving to Texas have mostly flown WN. Is it better to earn these flights on DL and reach gold or earn on AM? I'm not familiar at all with the AM program and don't the levels or what benifits I would have with approximately 50 segments. Any insight from the ST crowd would be greatly appreciated.
