If I book through Autoslash will Sixt waive the fee for my wife to be an additional driver?

It depends on where you are renting. They will if you're renting in California (where spouses drive free by state law). Otherwise, the answer is no and this has nothing to do with where you book. Sixt does not allow spouses to drive for free even if you book directly with them aside from the CA exception.

Is Sixt significantly cheaper than companies that offer spouse as a free additional driver, like Hertz (if you sign up for free Hertz Gold Plus), Avis, and Budget?

No. We're going to start over this AM as prices have dropped in the last week or so. To avoid the "name" issue we'll book the SUV in his name. She has decided that she doesn't mind NOT driving.

If the spouses have different surnames, a copy of the wedding certificate should solve that problem.

And if you're over 50, don't overlook Hertz' 50+ rate: CDP 2007815.
