Sixt App for selecting car type

Sixt App for selecting car type

I have an upcoming Sixt reservation in France and was informed that I can select the desired car model before picking it up via the Sixt app. The problem is, I played with the app a bit but I didn't figure out how to go about it. Has somebody managed to do that?

I am sure someone can provide a more exacting response but the feature doesn't appear until just before and I am not sure it is for all locations.

I have used it, you check your rental record and then you can choose the car, but I think the window is 24 hours or less, if you rental is in a few weeks then you will not see the option to choose

Thanks for your reply JohnnyColombia. My reservation is in 48hrs so I will report back tomorrow (inside the 24h hour window) if it is available. I'm renting out of Strasbourg Main Station.

Good luck, it could be even less than 24 hours. Mine was at a London airport, I forget which, and I think from memory the options became visible before I flew in. Sorry I cannot be more helpful. But I can confirm that it would not be possible a couple of days before your rental.

You can select a car on the app when it is 60 minutes from pick up.
At least that is how it is in the USA. Not sure internationally.

However, I am also not sure if you can choose cars outside of that category. For example, if you book LCAR, the app will let you choose LCARs but the desk might upgrade you to a higher category, which the app will not see.

Hi John.

Please note that although many locations are different the option to select the individual vehicle you desire is still limited to availability. In some cases this cannot be achieved until 30 minutes prior to the hire taking place. When making the booking you can also leave a note for the branch with your preference. Feel free to private message me anytime you reserve a hire and I will be more than happy to contact the branch manager of the location on your behalf.

Thanks for your reply, kxc262. I could have selected a car on the app 30 minutes before pick up, but in the end I didn't do it and got upgraded at the Sixt counter (I'm Sixt Platinum).
