Late return charges

Hi all,

Any idea how Sixt handles late returns? I can't find anything in the rental agreement before I click purchase.

I need to rent for 4 days and 2-3 hours from Stuttgart - 4 days is 160 euro, if I select 4 days and 3 hours the cost is over 300 euro.

Annoyingly, my flight arrives at 11am but doesn't depart until 5pm on the day of departure so unless I want to spend a lot of time sightseeing at the airport I'm stuck in the irritating position of needing a few extra hours.

If I book for 4 days and return 2-3 hours late what is the typical penalty for this?

If it's going to be a full day charge is that a day at the original daily rate or the daily rate that would apply had I booked it as a 5 day rental?

Hi Foxtbh,

We offer a 58 minute grace period with regard to returning the vehicle. Any time over this will result in the charge for an additional day.

I hope this helps to solve your query.

Many thanks, Jess.

Thanks for the response.

At what rate is the additional day charged - the original daily rate on the contract or a recalculated daily rate?

Thanks!

Hi Foxtbh,

It'd be charged at the same daily rate as your contract; just like an extension.

I hope this helps.

Thanks, Jess.

Thats brilliant - so if I book 4 days at @ 30 a day for 120 and then return the car 4 hours late, I'll be billed 30 as a late return fee? That sounds reasonable.
