Gary,
I see several references to this, but not any complete response here. I have a World Elite Mastercard and one of the printed benefits is Platinum status in Sixt. How do I go about getting this applied to my Sixt account?
I called Mastercard's CS and all they could do was send me an email to signup for Sixt. I did so, and I got an email telling me I'm now Sixt Gold. Upon calling Mastercard back, they said all they can do is send me that email, and they *think* that I now need to contact Sixt's CS to have them update my account. Is this true?
I am currently National Executive and Avis Preferred Plus, and would like to give Sixt a try, but it seems like this is a difficult hoop to jump through. Can you point me in the right direction, shoot me a PM, or give me a number to call?

Thanks!

I need to rent a CDAR car at MUC in late Spring for close to a month. We're flying in on a Sunday evening. Is the class of car guaranteed, or is there a possibility of non-availability? I'm selecting the "pay later" option, not "pay now". What if the flight is delayed and I'm not there to pickup the car at the estimated time?
Lastly, the quoted price is marked as "* Prices exclusive statutory taxes ". Is there a way to find out ahead of time what these taxes are?
Thanks,
Ken

If you don't have any clue on this one (I realize it may relate more to Mastercard's CS than you), please let me know that. Otherwise, I would like to get this taken care of sooner than later so I can try out Sixt and have the best shot at a good experience from the get-go. It sounds like it may be a great alternative to National (both with prices and upgrades) at several locations in the US and also a very viable option when in Europe.

I just completed my 10th Sixt rental and it was not great. I needed a full-sized SUV with maximum cargo room for my trip. I reserved both an FFAR and an XFAR, at the recommendation of a phone agent. 2 days before the rental I called the local MCO office to inquire about putting in a preference for a vehicle. For FFAR I preferenced a Suburban and for XFAR and Escalade. The next day (day before rental) I called two more times, and spoke with two people who said they would be "sure" (their word) to "hold" one of the two preferred vehicles for me. They said that since they KNEW I would be coming, they could "do that" for me.
I again called on the day of the rental before my flight to MCO and they said they had both vehicles and would hold an Escalade for me (which was my first preference.) Lo and behold, I get to the check-in counter several hours later, and they have ZERO full-size FFARs of any type, let alone a Suburban, and when I inquired about an Escalade, the person checking me in said "Ohhhhh, someone JUST upgraded to one about an hour ago" (salt in the wounds) and on top of that they had no XFARs left either.
This was very frustrating, because I had called on over 3 separate occasions leading up to the rental and was told I would have one of my two choices held for my arrival, and when I got there not only were they not held, but they were completely out of any cars in my two categories, and had allowed someone to upgrade to the last XFAR, when I had a confirmed reservation for one just an hour later. To add to that, when the person checking me in realized he didn't have any Tahoes, Sequoias or Suburbans, he offered me a Chevy Traverse and claimed it was a full-size SUV. I had to pull out the Sixt app on my phone to prove to him that it was, in fact, not.
The only reason I ended up with my reserved class was because a GL450 happened to pull up as I was checking in. This car was lacking in luggage space which was my primary concern and why I had called to try to ensure a larger vehicle. Two passengers ended up with roller bags on their laps for the two hour drive to Jacksonville. My first few rentals with Sixt were great, but it's starting to lose its luster a bit. I think I may have to switch to a company that offers Suburbans as a separate class, so that I can have that luggage space assured.
I guess there isn't really a question in this post but I just wanted to share that experience.

Is there a particular reason why Sixt holds such a high amount when hiring a car? Even with people who have taken all the insurance policies available from Sixt, there is such an exorbitant amount held.

Anybody know whats going on with the price of FFAR rental in Miami? It's almost gone up ten times normal price this week. $6000 for 28 days? Come on...

Looks like they're very close to sold out on them. That price means "we really don't want you to rent this car, but if you REALLY want it, then we'll figure something out (i.e. drive one in from another location, etc.)."

Makes sense. And the fact that my holiday starts in week two of July, they will probably be fresh out of FFAR anyway. Thanks

Guess not. You can always go, but you'd be violating the Terms and Conditions of the rental, which might be a problem if you're in an accident (insurance would be void).

Is it just me or does it seem to be extremely difficult to book a car from Munich Airport? Tried LPAN and got notification next day that it's not available which is ok no big deal. Tried booking LSAN and no one has gotten back to me in 4 days and booking just says "Data not complete" and I'm 100% sure I filled all the required information. This is starting to get really old...
