AMS
Diamond Booked: 5 series received: X5, 80k km French plate but with nicest options this was the typical AMS rigamarole. Super busy desks, car not available and an “upgrade” to Volvo XC60 offered. The X5 was then offered for 250 eur/day (lmao). I had to politely ask them to ask the station manager as I wasn’t paying more for my booked category or better. Ended up getting the X5. |
Status- Gold
Location- London Putney Reserved- BMW 530 Received- Volvo XC90 T8 I wasn't particularly over the moon as I was driving 600 miles and wanted something a bit better on fuel, was told but it's a hybrid so it's more efficient, at this stage wasn't much point arguing. I have had the Volvo a few times there great but eat fuel. Have had a few nightmares recently order an BMW I4 (Hired the day before going away to pick up on a Sunday) told no cars available at location had to come back the following day to pick up a XC60. |
Platinum
Location: NYC Booked: Intermediate Nissan Sentra or similar. Offered: Toyota Corolla or a BMW 4 series coupe for an extra $15/day. Took the BMW |

Location - West Hollywood, CA Reserved- Full Size (Toyota Camry) Received- Volvo S60 Location - San Francisco Reserved- Compact (Nissan Versa) Received- Hyundai Santa Cruz I was told that I got “upgraded” to this truck. I didn’t want to drive a truck, so I asked them to downgrade to a compact car as I originally booked but was told there’s no smaller car…. |

Location: Paris Booked: Audi A1 or similar. Offered: Audi Q2 |
Status: Platinum
Location: LAX Reserved: Fullsize Elite (BMW X5) or similar (for $48 a day which seems bananas low) Received: Mercedes Benz GLE 350 (brand new with 4.7 miles on the odometer) Offered at Online Check-in: BMW 4 Series Convertible for $25 extra per day (declined) No damage when picking up as it was brand new. No damage (doubly confirmed with agent) and no games at drop-off. Quite satisfied! |
Location - AGP
Status - Platinum Booked - Mercedes CLE Coupe or equivalent Allocated - Mercedes CLE Coupe Received - Mercedes CLE Coupe Didn’t ask for upgrade as I didn’t see any tempting vehicles on the lot and I wasn’t offered an upgrade either. AGP normally has plenty of luxury vehicles on the lot but not on this occasion. Car had decent spec and was clean. |
Got some catching up to do from last year:
Location - PHL Status - Platinum (but booked through Cap1 travel, so no status) Booked - Mercedes C-class Received - BMW 330i with 600 miles. Quick car, good on gas, doesn't have a solid build feel. Inside of windshield was filthy though. Location - DFW Status - Platinum (but booked through Cap1 travel, so no status) Booked - BMW X3 Received - Mercedes GLE with a LOT of miles It had this weird film all over it and looked like it drove through fresh line painting. I ended up washing it. Location - PHL Status - Platinum Booked - Mercedes C-class Requested - BMW 5-series car Received - BMW X6 40i m-sport Did have to pay extra for this one, $25 a day. This was NICE. adaptive suspension, ventilated /massaging seats, good audio, and that beautiful straight 6 engine. I enjoyed this one. |
I reserve cars every month for work travel and just recently decided to give Sixt a try. All my rentals are in Dallas (Marriott). The first 2 months I reserved the BMW 2 series PCAR and received that car. Was offered a paid upgrade but declined. At the beginning of January I matched to platinum with Sixt so my first rental with platinum was middle of January:
January 2026 Platinum Dallas (Marriott) Reserved: BMW 2 series Free upgrade Offered: Mercedes GLC or 3 series Choice upgrade offered: BMW M235 for a small fee Went ahead and went with the M235 because it wasnt much more at all ($90 or so for 4 weeks) and I was curious to try out a more performance oriented BMW. Nice car, good performance and still 30+ mpgs highway. My next one is coming up in a few days. Will update with what it is. This thread helped me when trying to figure out if Sixt was worth a try but saw almost no data on Dallas. So far the staff at this location has been great to work with and reasonable. |

Who were you renting with before, and what are these cars costing you for 4 days?
This week I had booked a Mercedes C300 class for $824 for 27 days, but they were very short on cars when I arrived. So they dropped me into a Mercedes GLA and gave me a bit of a rebate which put me just under $790. Was disappointing for this month as I really wanted something nicer, the GLA is ok but not very luxury and this one is bare bones. So bare bones it doesnt even have ambient lighting or proximity sensors on the doors. |

Location: LAX Reserved: BMW i5 Received: BMW 530i xDrive Check-in on the app didn't work so I couldn't view any upgrade options. The branch manager reached out the morning of my pickup day to inform me that the BMW i5 I reserved will not be ready by the time of pick up and offered to reschedule my booking to the next day. He offered non-luxury options as a replacement, but I politely declined and told him that I will go to the branch that night and see what they have. The check-in agent at the LAX branch offered a BMW 530i or a Mercedes E350. I asked if they have an X5 and they said they were fully booked on that. They had a 7 series 760i available for an extra $100/day, which I declined. As nice as it is to daily drive that with the V8, I can imagine that the car will average around 15 mpg in LA traffic, and the cost to fill up after. |
Had a terrible experience with the Houston IAH/Airport location last week.
Status: Platinum Location: Houston IAH Airport Reserved: BMW 4 Series Coupe Received: BMW 3 Series Sedan Was informed no coupes were available, only vehicle presented besides the 3 Series sedan was a cheap upgrade to a Chrysler Pacifica (no thanks) or a $100/day upgrade all the way to an X6. A couple days after dropoff, got hit with a damage claim for a wheel that was damaged before I received the vehicle. I've submitted all the pictures I took of the vehicle showing the damage at the time I picked it up, but it makes one wonder why they have the digital drive through scanner here if they won't reference it to prove the damage wasn't mine. Awaiting a response from their end hopefully soon. |
