5th rental in the past year at Sixt.
Location: LAS Status - Platinum (Status Match) Reserved - 3 Series - LCAR Offered - X3 Booked a 3-series, really wanted a sedan not an SUV. Counter agent said all they have is a X3 and that a 5 series would be a paid upgrade, I told her I didn't want a SUV, i reserved a sedan. I mentioned Platinum status should allow a free upgrade, she said no she can't do it. I mentioned yea you just don't want to, give me the X3. Went out, I see several 4 series and other sedans around. Didn't even want to talk to another person. Platinum is useless, app doesn't work to choose the car in advance. LAS, service is probably very location dependant. I hate agents and just want to go straight to my car. Nope, you have to line up, they waste time re-entering the same info they already have, ask dumb questions. Then tell me I have to go outside, line up again to get the car keys. Very poor process, I prefer Hertz where I talk to no one, choose a car and drive out. Do better Sixt. Doubt i'll use them again unless I really have to. |

Status - Platinum (status match) Reserved - 2 Series (GCAR) Received - 5 Series (XCAR) - 530i xDrive We were asked if we wanted a smaller or bigger car. Said large then we got this 5 series. It was MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the next door - Payless which we booked from last time - Mitsubishi Mirage with 78 hp.... |

Status - Express Reserved - RFAR (GMC Acadia or similar) Received - ? (Mazda CX90) Tried to get an upgrade since the mazda wasn't really what we were looking for and there was no similar car in class. She mentioned a lot of cars (Tahoe, Suburban, Expedition), but all somehow fell apart without any reasoning. I don't know if these were really on the lot, booking them in avance was not possible though - maybe holding them back for good customers? We were disappointed, since we always had a choice and multiple options at MIA. All In all a pretty disappointing experience, although the car is fine (its just veerry low spec). Don't know which category it is, would say between SFAR and RFAR sizewise. |

NOt sure what you were expecting, but I'd take a CX-90 over what you rented any day, THAT was an upgrade.
Its large, good to ride and has an inline 6 - thats why we're alright with the car, but would have prefered the more usual cars in RFAR Class (as mentioned) |

Americans are always very well equipped at Sixt. The new Acadias and Traverse at Sixt have all the bells and whistles while the Mazda is as basic as it can come from factory (No XM, no Touchscreen, No wireless Carplay, no electrical/Ventilated seats, no assisted steering).

Our car clearly has no wireless carplay, usb required. And also no Touchscreen (otherwise something would move if i touch the display ^^). Drivers assistance also nothing. Its a CX90, from the mileage (7000) built early this year or end of last year. its just that we had all those stuff on our last rentals with sixt and therefore this "premium" attitude and expectation. Guess you can call that a luxury Problem :) |

Status: Platinum Reserved: BMW 5 series Received: BMW 850i coupe arrived late at night and they appeared to have very few cars. I was offered a banged up X3 with 50k+ miles "upgrade" as the only option. I said I would take an X5, X7, or 7 series but that the X3 was definitley not an upgrade. They then offered an almost new 850i coupe. I took it just for the novelty, but really would have preferred a 4 door. |

Status - Platinum Reserved - Full-Size Elite SUV (GFAR) Received - Ford Expedition Max SLT - switched to - GMC Yukon XL Denali (GFAR) Went over from National because they didn't have any long wheelbase Full-size SUVs at all. Was first assigned a Ford Expedition Max in SLT Trim with cloth seats and no options at all. Got that switched out by the amazing lot attendants after some back and forth for the Yukon XL Denali. But be aware, GFAR seems to have gotten a load of those bottom line, base trim Expedition Max in. Even the guys in the garage didn't know who was so stupid to order something like that at high volume. They mentioned they got about 20 of those in at Miami a while before. Sounded like everybody hates them. |
rented 3 series in san diego one way to LAX. got 29k miles X3, great rental.

Location: POZ
Status - Gold (although the agent did suggest I "contact customer service" and ask for higher status, whatever that entails) Reserved - MB A-class (ILAR) Received - MB C-class C180 (FDAR) 20EUR/day Was offered XC40 for free, or a C-class for 20 EUR/day. Took the C-class because the XC40 was utterly lethargic on the motorway the last time, and just seemed inefficient. The C180 was nice, but felt underpowered. MBUX is still a mess, but at least this MB had Carplay activated and didn't ask to pay for it. But being a MB, it did for ACC activation. Washer fluid reservoir was empty, presumably because the notification of this is buried in MBUX. Apparently POZ (and presumably most Eurorent locations) have phased out 2-series, which is a shame, and replaced them with Peugeots |
I have gotten nothing but awful experiences as a Diamond — they lost my booking at AMS and they tried to charge me for a class above I’d reserved and confirmed online. I told them politely that I’d take the car but won’t pay 50EUR/day for the privilege. After a very rapid back office visit the desk agent gave me the paperwork for a 5 series wagon.
Curious how it’ll go at SFO today. |

Status - Platinum (status match) Reserved - Premium SUV - Volvo XC60 (PFAR) Received - BMW X5 (XFAR) Very quick service at the counter, car parked right at the exit of the terminal. |
Location: Brussels Midi (train station)
Status - Platinum (status match) Reserved - Economy Estate - Peugeot 308 SW (CWMR) Offered - Citroen C3 Aircross (CFMR), Volvo XC60 (PFAR) for 50EUR p/d Received - Citroen C3 Aircross (CFMR) They did not have the estate car, so they offered me the Citroen instead. They tried to charge me 30EUR p/d because they didn't have the class I reserved. I mentioned that it is not my fault then the agent removed the surcharge and when I pointed out that as a platinum member should get an upgrade he said the Citroen was the upgrade... When I went back to the counter to report existing, non recorded damage they tried to say they are closed an hour before the official closing time but the agent came back to the counter eventually. After providing feedback via the automated email, the station manager apologised and gave me a 15% discount on the original booking. No issues on return. |
Status: Platinum
Booked: BMW X5 Received: BMW X1 Location: LIH When I arrived to the office I was told that there is no X5 available at the moment and they were only able to get me an X1. No discount provided. After returning the car and making a claim they refunded me $50 for downgrade. Status: Platinum Booked: BMW 4 Series Convertible Received: BMW 430i Convertible Location: HNL Got pretty worn BMW 430i with 50k miles on it. Infotainment screen was somehow damaged (probably by the sun) and was very hard to see anything on it. Status: Platinum Booked: BMW 5 Series Received: BMW 530i Location: LAS 2024 model with 3k miles. I was offered upgrade to M3 for $120/day. Status: Platinum Booked: Premium Mystery Car (FCCC) Received: Skoda Kodiaq 1.5 TSI Location: TIA Booked a mystery car hoping for some large car, because I was traveling with my family. Ended up with Skoda Kodiaq with 9k km on the clock. Status: Platinum Booked: VW Golf Received: Skoda Kamiq Location: LCA 2024 car, brand new |
Status: Diamond
Booked: BMW X5 Received: BMW 740i Location: SFO Nice staff! I was offered the X6 initially and once I got to the pickup area there was a 740i the agent swapped me into. |
Tomas, you are a more courageous man than I to book a mystery car when traveling with your family :)
Status: Diamond Booked: BMW X5 Received: BMW X5 Location: SFO |
I knew that in Albania you can upgrade to almost any car by just tipping few Euros.
Status: Platinum Booked: BMW X3 Received: BMW X4 30i (2023, 16k miles) Location: MIA |
Status: Platinum.
Location: Zurich city center. Booked: BMW 5 series limousine. Received: BMW 5 series limousine (20k km and 6 months old). 520d x-drive M-sport. Pretty good spec - matrix headlights, driving assistant professional (self lane changing, camera navigation etc.), head up display, 360 camera (which came in very handy when returning the car!) and Harman Kardon audio. Managed 3.8l/100km on the way back from Ischgl €25 fuel round trip and the car was showing 1500km fuel range when we returned it. Disappointed that I didn't get an upgrade but was impressed with the car. Note for others - the parking garage where you return the car is very old and thus very tight/hard to manoeuvre around the ramps. There wasn't much clearance. The Sixt parking is on level 7/8. Take your time when you're returning. Thanks! |

I was wondering about that as well. I suspect that it's the BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase version. However, I was under the impression that it is only available in China and India, though.
Thanks! |

No status (Gold - applied for status match and received no response, trried again and the site was down) Booked: BMW 5er or equivalent Received: BMW 530i xDrive The last time I rented from Sixt at this location, I received a 7er with a 5er reservation. The cars present in the garage early this morning were smaller - a few X5s, several 530is, and numerous 4er/3er/2ers along with a few Volvo S60 and mainstream cars. All of the 5ers in the garage this morning appear to have been in the fleet for some time - this particular car has 17K on it with signs of use, registered in March, but it drives fine. I got a really good rate, so I am pleased. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c73638a843.jpg |
Orlando (MCO) Terminal C
Status: the status you receive when you sign up, didn't have time to status match from Hertz PC Booked: Midsize SUV (IFAR) Received: Standard elite (RFAR) The app had a bunch of the standard cars that you would expect in that class, so I decided not to select my car in the app and try to talk to the agent for an upgrade or something better. They were initially going to give me a Toyota RAV-4, Chevy Equinox, or Jeep Compass, the RAV-4 and Equinox in base trims, as I walked the lot prior. I knew it was a slim chance of getting upgraded to a BMW X3, but I tested my luck. The agent said it would be $70/day and I most definitely wasn't going to do it when the app offered it for $25/day. She was hesitant on upgrading me beyond what I booked, but I mentioned my status match didn't go through yet and I mentioned the Toyota Highlander in my sight and she gave in. It was only a base trim as well, but I rather have that then what I booked. Staff was nice so being polite back to them goes a long way. |
I don't visit this forum frequent enough but I rent from Sixt pretty often so here's some data points for you guys.
