if you mean the airport MUC, you may save quite some money if you rent for one day first when arriving in MUC, changing cars the next day at a Sixt-city station on base of a new rental.

As you have a supplement of 20% per day when renting at airport or trainstation-SIXT outlets you would save this amount of money for the 9 rest days.

Would you know if this applies in France also? I'm getting lower rates renting from CDG/ Orly than anywhere else in Paris. Also, does dropping off at an airport vs. city centre make a difference?

In normal cases this is the case also in France, as there is a SIXT-surcharge for renting at airports- Just recently had a rental at Nice-Airport.
From time to time they offer very low base-rates at airports though. Maybe this is result of supply and demand.

Dropiing of your car at an airport station is free of surcharge.
Though, they charge you in General for one-way rents. If I know correctly its about 10 in France.
