Transit time at SIN

Transit time at SIN
Can anyone help with this?
Our flight leaves SIN-SYD at 19.45 and a flight i'm considering booking KUL-SIN arrives at 18.25.
We'll have standard (though overweight) rollaboards plus one other bag each that we hope not to have to check.
Is this enough time?
Will MH insist on us checking in a bag?

It's enough if all goes well, but you're not leaving yourself much of a buffer there, especially if you have to collect and recheck your bags. Rollaboard weight won't be a problem, but just how big is this "other bag"?

Laptop type bag for me and my wife will no doubt have a (large!) handbag.
Since posting i read on Changi's website that if i'm arrinving into SIN on a full service carrier i can have our bags checked through all the way. Would this be a preferable option?
