Check-in and seat selection on award tix

I'm using my UA miles to travel on SQ flight. Will I be able to do internet check-in and select my own seat 48 hours prior?

If you have booked your flight on singaporeair.com, there's no reason why you can't. I think. If you do have a KF account number.

It doesn't matter how you booked your flights, and nor do you have to be a Krisflyer member.

I've never had a problem doing OLCI on SQ flights booked as LH awards nor SQ flights bought through interlined ticket stock. OLCI is available to anyone 48 hrs prior to departure unless you're departing from CMB. It is very helpful to have ur SQ PNR handy so make sure you get that from UA or SQ.

Yes you should be able to check in 48 hrs ahead using OLCI(PNR or Passport #). If you happen to have a UA flt connecting to SQ be mindful to check in for the UA flt first at 24 hrs then the SQ flt second if on same PNR.
You should be able to call SQ referencing their flt # and be able to select your seats now if you already haven't.

OP could be in Y for intra-asia segment as (s)he is using UA miles. On C award using UA miles, one should be seated in Y. Many UA agents do not know about this and put in I class instead of X none the less though.

I'm actually connecting from an UA flight to SQ at SFO. So far both UA and SQ told me that I'd be able to check my baggage thru to HKG upon check-in at UA. Can I use the easy check-in online if I'm departing from Canada? If so, do I still need to check-in online separately on SQ website? Thanks.

UA's OLCI doesn't work for international flights and I *think* that includes Canada as well.

You will need to check in separately for UA & SQ.

When I've been transferring to SQ from another airline, SQ wouldn't let me check in early. But one check in ought to work, even if it has to be done at the first airport: assuming a reasonably competent UA agent who can double check with SQ. (And just btw, I've definitely used UA OLCI for international flights (with all segments on UA)).

OLCI for international flight ex-USA is no problem.
IIRC, OLCI from overseas does not work.

I could have sworn I did OLCI my last trip out of Taipei (to the US). Though maybe I'm confusing flights...or airlines...or my memory is gone. Anyway, I'll try again in a couple of weeks & report back.
