When I got my tickets held last year I believe they were added to my account and when my points finally appeared in my account I was able to "purchase" them with the points.

I am having no luck today with getting someone at SQ to do an award hold, much less even able to hold a coherent conversation. Called this morning and after having to clarify several times what I wanted, said they couldn't do that. Tried to HUCA, got the same agent. Waited 20 minutes, same agent again (this time he actually called me back and asked how they can be of service after I had hung up). Waited several hours, got another agent who put me on hold for some time before saying it wasn't possible.

Anyone have any tips on how to get to someone who will do it? I have been waiting for Chase points to transfer over for 48 hours, with 250k+ at stake.

Last year I had almost the same nonsensical sequence of events - told they can't hold the ticket, HUCA, get same agent, hang up, agent calls me back.

Be patient. My last Chase-KF transfer a couple of weeks ago took about 56 hours. Your points will probably show up soon. It's unnecessarily nerve wracking, but usually it works out.

Thanks, timeline ended up being about the same, roughly 50 hours. Flights were still available, but yeah... unnecessarily nerve wracking. Do one of two things: fix the tech to make transfers instant or allow holds. Otherwise I'd think twice about putting a large stash of miles at risk.

I'd be curious to understand why this is an issue for SQ+Chase. Both manage instant transfers with other partners, so I wonder why this is a unique issue across the two.

Sorry I don't have any tips but i just wanted to add my data point that I successfully did an award ticket hold May 20. I called and asked, he said sure. It showed in my Krisflyer account with a message something like, this ticket has not yet been paid. It has a res number and itinerary though. It was also confirmed via email to me.

That's great that it worked for you - but frustrating that it's so inconsistent. Could you provide some more details - time and day of week you called, which number you called, and whether you have any KF status?

Hey folks - not sure if this is the same thing I've got, but I did two dummy award bookings where I went all the way until selecting seats, and then abandoned the bookings, thinking that's the end of it. Now I see all my dummy bookings with Booking References under MMB, obviously not ticketed, with a button to confirm or cancel the booking. I have a feeling one of those holds worked against me in a sense, as I was about to go back and book a previously searched dummy booking, but failed to find availability just a few hours later which I thought was strange for that route/type. If my originally searched for flights are actually 'held', then that would make sense...

Huh. Were you able to just confirm the booking you had "held" and actually wanted? It would be very useful if you could keep track of how long the "hold" lasts and whether award space is absent and then pops back up when it finally expires or you explicitly cancel the booking.

Of course, this method, even if it works consistently, won't be much of a help to people looking to hold award tickets while transferring points, because you would need to have sufficient points in your account to cover the ticket cost in order to bring the booking process to that last step.

if you don’t have enough miles, it won’t work because it will ask you to buy the miles.

Was able to get an agent to hold tickets for a week without miles in account. Called today to confirm the ticketing deadline and it was extended till end August (for travel in Jan).
I hope they don't cancel it before the TTL

Another DP: Initially the agent was reluctant to hold an award but I insisted because I am missing about half the miles required. She then created the reservation and the system gave it a hold until October 2023 (for travel in March 2024, 2x Suites awards TYO-SIN). I was shocked they put it on hold for 3+ months.

No miles in account. Agent was happy to make booking on hold. Sent me confirmation with PNR and showing hold date 9 days out . She did however say can call before hold deadline expires to extend deadline. Flight I booked is out 350 days. Ine account had no miles, and she was happy to put on hold on the basis that miles from credit card will come in a few days. The second account had enough miles, but she was happy, even without any questions or hesitation to put the July 2024 booking on hold

Call was made Sunday 16 July to Singapore Kris Flyer number. First agent transferred to redemption specialist, who I think was in Philippines call center

So i have successfully asked for an award to be held. When the rest of the miles credit how do I pay for it?

I tried calling late one night 2AM from Westcoast to hold some saver award flight for June 2024 and was told that there call center was too busy to transfer to redemption agent and that some would call me in 72 hrs, also mentioned they could not put hold on award tickets. I called next morning and got an agent who initially said they dont hold award flights anymore but was able to make an exception and booked the flights with about 10 day hold as I was waiting for points to transfer over from Chase which I did 2 different transfers, 1 took 1 day and the other larger transfer took 3 days making me sweat it out. Thankfully AMEX and Capital One transfered over instantly and helped me book my first leg no issues.
