If people really defect to Asia miles or AAdvantage than that's good news to people staying on as this means less competition for seats...
I don't see people defecting though as I don't see how someone in SYD could benefit from Asia Miles or AAdvantage: CX is much more limited in capacity than SQ and BA out of SYD gives almost no award seats in premium cabins.

For J, from SYD-HKG, it would cost 45000 Asia Miles one-way, or 80000 Asia Miles return (or 40K/80K AAdvantage). For SQ, SYD-SIN-HKG, it would cost 58000 KF miles one-way, or 116000 KF miles return. So for me in the future I may swing back to CX as the miles required is significantly less.
Obviously CX does not have F to Australia so cannot compare that.

Not universally true!. I have found SQ has been much more stingy in releasing saver awards and there is huge demand, especially for premier SQ cabin redemptions, especially from US based members, post the Chase UR gates opening up.
On the other hand, CX releases all premier cabin seats for redemption close to flight date, and we have found it much easier to find CX availabiity.
For example, CX has four flights from HKG to NYC, and several more connecting flights from SIN to HKG, compared to SQ with one flight only. Over the last twy years, most of our redemptions have moved to CX business/first class.

So for U$250 = S$355 you can buy 17.5k SQ miles
So net increase is 9k miles, just under 10% increase. So not too bad

Being based in SG (and not having particularly high spending habits), I can't quite decide if I like the new redemptions.
I ticketed 2x Suites to Delhi and 2x First to Seoul a couple of weeks ago.
All 4 flights combined: 187,000 miles + s$773.80 --> 230,000miles + s$0
i.e. i need additional 43,000 miles but save s$773.80
Does this mean that I'm better off with the new rates as long as I can procure the additional miles at less than s$1.8cents each? (i.e. $773.80/43000)?

Normal "cost" to buy SQ miles being 2 cents per mile, net net, you need additional 4300 miles which is not too bad

Hi All - just seeing if you all could correct me if I'm wrong.
IST -> SIN -> PVG pre devaluation prices as 29,750 (15% off 35K) and $283 in taxes/fees.
I priced a revenue ticket, and it gives Airline Fuel Surcharge (YQAC) 254.00
Doesn't look like the route is going up in miles post deval, so it should be 35,000 miles and $29?
So 5250 miles for $254 in savings?

Just got my booking done over the phone (mix class award, was still able to get the 15%). This is for the weekend before CNY 2018.
Locked in a F award from LAX-SIN via SQ7 and continuing on to KUL on Silkair.
91375 miles + USD $318
