That's because you collect miles with KF.
The *G lounge in T3 is average, but at least there is a lounge.
As opposed to [put large intl. hub name here] which airport ?
.. and after that a complete new security check before heading back to my gate. Forget it...
I thought you'd be well trained to endure the security molestation after the lounge visit by using Changi a lot !

SIA's official response to very high redemption requirements for Suites

Someone complained about the high redemption levels for Suites awards, and here is SQ's meaningless response and defense for the high levels from a letter they wrote in today's Forum page in the local newspaper, The Straits Times.

Interestingly, they say "We have had a number of redemptions on the Suites since the change was introduced". I wonder if anyone from FT has actually redeemed for Suites with KF miles

Suites are exclusive, but SIA notes feedback

WE REFER to last Wednesday's letter by Mr Anthony Prakasam ('$900,000 worth of flights to redeem an A-380 Suite?'), regarding the miles redemption for Singapore Airlines Suites.

SIA offers its KrisFlyer members various redemption categories to choose from, namely the Saver, Standard and Full Awards. The number of miles needed for each category corresponds to the respective benefits.

The Saver Award, for example, would require fewer miles, but has more restrictions; in comparison, the Full Award requires more miles, but allows greater flexibility in itinerary and more seat options. Members can use all three award types to redeem seats in economy, business and first class.

Singapore Airlines Suites is an exclusive product available on our A-380 aircraft, and was not previously open for redemption. We made the Suites available for redemption early this month following feedback from our KrisFlyer members. In view of the exclusive nature of this product, only the Full Award category is offered.

We have had a number of redemptions on the Suites since the change was introduced, and feedback from members who have used their miles to redeem the Suites has been positive.

We note Mr Prakasam's feedback, and will keep his comments in mind.

Man o man, what a crap - and blah, blah, blah... this is the typical standard SQ response which you get when you write a complaint. Apparently it needs an article in the Straits Times to get a response at all.

Sometimes no response is better than one - in particular if you do not address in your response the concerns raised by the author of the article.

Would anyone here care to respond to that letter on ST?

I guess the real question is: Mr. Kwee, when you say you "have had a number of redemptions", do you mean 2?

Right, but he said "redemptions" which lead me to believe that there has been more than 1, but I just don't believe that it will be more than 2, lol.

The pluralised word is also used when the number is zero

I dare say that some people must have quite some KrisFlyer points to burn if they can afford it. Perhaps those people who usually churn stacks and stacks of points through their credit cards (e.g. businesses and the like) have been waiting for the day when they can finally get at the suites.

Has it occurred to anyone that there are people in Singapore who accrue bucket loads of money, have businesses that spend on credit cards and don't really don't give a proverbial whether a suites redemption is 300,000 or 2 million miles? And therefore it may well be indeed true that some redemptions have been made. I see the bar set so high as to keep the riff-raff out, it's about preserving the cabin for the genuinely elite (as in society elite, not FF program elite).

There is a world beyond FT where people genuinely don't care that much about loyalty programs, just a bit of a bonus really, ....

Well put, I agree entirely. As you mentioned they only want people redeeming in suites who would normally pay for them anyway without blinking.
