Business class seat selection - Enhanced

https://milelion.com/2026/06/02/sing...d-most-awards/

Business Class passengers on Lite fares and Advantage, Saver and Promo awards are now restricted to choosing seats at the rear of the cabin, at least until closer to departure.

Disgusting and pathetic SQ, it really is

Why is this 'disgusting and pathetic'? If you're enticing people who are booking the highest fares right before departure (and who are by virtue of their ticket prices, also likely to be PPS Club members) to choose from the slim pickings that is left over, this would be a sensible change.

The only ones who lose out are the people who cheap out (Lite/on points), and sensibly so should be given fewer options until check-in.

Yep, we lose out, flying a family of 4, twice a year in business class booked with Amex Plat fares, which book into the cheaper business class fare codes, from Australia to Europe. We never make PPS....

Now we are forced to sit down the back near the basinets

We also book some reward seats as well, which now will be, down the back

Once this mess in the UAE is fully over, we will move our flying to Emirates. Between the packed SIN lounge, the delayed new J seats, SQ is really out of touch now

Why is it okay to give those who use points or pay a Business Lite cash fare worse seats? Imagine you've saved up your hard earned miles (from flying or credit card points), and you're planning your honeymoon or your first family trip where your parents / grandparents can try Business Class.

You only had enough miles to book Saver or Advantage, given how expensive Access is, particularly for more than 1 pax. Why is it fair to say that you or anyone in this situation should then not be allowed to pick the same seats as those who paid cash or more miles for Access? Why must the spoils go to those who are cash or points rich? We are all still sitting in Business Class right ... why is there a need for further segregation and division?

I would even prefer being able to pay $100 or $200 to select a seat, pushing me to be back of the cabin and with bassinets without an option of paying a bit more for a better seat annoys me more.

Good, if this moves enough people across to the other airlines then saver award seats might be easier to come by

TBH if it's the first time travelling business class (or a very rare treat), it really doesn't matter where in the cabin you sit, if you've only ever travelled in economy, it's a huge step up and you appreciate it regardless of where you sit. Especially on SQ, where all the non-bulkhead seats are the same. I know it was for me when I first took a long haul business flight and that was on recliner seats! In fact I still fell privileged to be able to travel in business class, regardless of whether I'm in the last row or the first, especially in configurations that are all aisle access.

Would be interesting to see if they will make the "forward zone" seats chargeable for those on the cheaper fares. The rear of the cabin is typically emptier so I prefer that anyway. Would be interesting to see if this move makes the front of the cabin lighter on the rare occasion the flights are not full.

No loss on the 380. The rear cabin is so much better.
