Report TSA Touchless ID experiences at SFO here
Hey friends. I just opted into Touchless ID on the Alaska, United, Delta, American and Southwest apps. I understand some have privacy concerns about this, but I've pretty much given up on privacy.
For those unfamiliar, Touchless ID requires that you have 1) a Trusted Traveler number, 2) A valid U.S. passport (not sure if Canadian would work), and 3) you've uploaded these into your airline profile and you've selected "opt in" for Touchless ID.
I'll be curious to see if this saves any time at SFO and elsewhere. I have PreCheck and Clear, but so do quite a few others at SFO. I've never noticed where the Touchless lines are at SFO, but I'll look for it at Harvey Milk in a couple of weeks and report back. My PreCheck + Clear experiences at SFO have been good, but sometimes it's taken ~15 minutes at Harvey Milk (plus there's going up and down the escalators).

Interesting - I haven't seen any signs for touchless ID yet - please report back!
My hack for departures at Terminal 1 are to go through International Terminal A Gates. I think the drop-off is faster since you're not running into terminal traffic at International and the Clear + TSA Precheck line is shorter and you avoid the escalators. I also find the 'new' security system at T1 to be inefficient and the A gates security is still the 'old' way where you line up and go through.

Appreciate you being an early adopter. I’ll be interested to hear people’s experiences

Touchless ID has been in use at the Terminal 1 (Gates B and C) security screening point since at least a couple months ago. Since there is a separate line for it next to regular Pre Check, you effectively get to cut to the front of the Pre Check line if there is no one in the Touchless line (which there never is IME, so far). Once your identity is verified you join the same screening stations.
How much time it saves depends on how long the regular Pre Check line is. I suppose it also saves a few additional seconds in that you don't have to fumble for a physical ID, along with whatever the added convenience is worth to you.
I don't recall specifically opting in, but I must've at some point when checking in for a flight. The airlines apparently remembered my selection, and now I'm too lazy to opt out again.
It's not yet in use at Terminal 3. Don't know about Terminal 2 or International.

SF_trotter, are you saying that the Touchless ID security line in Concourse B security is upstairs on the mezzanine level?

It's upstairs in T1. IIRC, it's also available in T2 (it gets a little hard for me to keep everything straight). Clear also has the e-gates upstairs in T1.
It's awesome. We used it at PHX last night. We were through security in about 60 seconds total, including bag screening. Add in UA's touchless bag drop option and you have a very smooth, expedited airport experience. I do think T3 PHX is one of the best flying experiences in the country.

Correction to what I posted above: Touchless is available at Terminal 3 also. You have to opt in separately for each airline and scan your passport into your account profile, which I hadn't done for United.

No dice as I tried to use Touchless ID in SFO Terminal 1 on Monday, March 2 around 7 am. Passenger traffic was light at SFO generally, and all of the security lines were short. I saw where the Touchless ID line would normally be, but that equipment was not in use. Agent told me they weren’t using it then.
FWIW, I was able to use Touchless ID at Washington National on Thursday, March 5 around 4 pm. Super fast. Just walked up, looked in the camera for maybe 10 seconds, and off I went to the scanning area.

We should distinguish here between Touchless Pre-Check and Clear's eGates. They're not the same thing. SFO T1 is the only place I've seen the eGates (though they are in use at other airports). Touchless Pre is much more widely available.

I'll just put this here. OAK security was a breeze this morning in Terminal 2 (Southwest). Short lines all around.

Tried and failed again to use the Touchless ID line at Terminal 1 in SFO on Monday, April 5 around 8 am. The machine was not operating. Regular PreCheck line was short, so no biggie.
And also once again, I used the Touchless ID line at DCA yesterday around 3 pm. No line at all. Walked up, looked in the camera, and maybe 10 seconds later the agent waived me through to the screening area.
