[LEAVING AUG 2021] Four Points by Sheraton Long Island City, NY [Master Thread]
Most of the parking in the area isn't metered so if you can find a spot, it's yours. Typically, the only restrictions are 90 minute windows once a week where you'll have to move your car to allow for street cleaning.

The room was clean and modern but a tad on the small side. Good use of the furniture to make the room multifunctional. Nice large walk-in shower in the bathroom. Great view of Manhattan including the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building.
There are several subways within walking distance that will get you to wherever you want in Manhattan. The closest is 39 Av at 4 blocks and < 5 mins away. Queensboro Plaza is < 10 mins away as is 21 St.
Overall, it's a great place to stay on a budget. Paid ~$125/night. I'll likely stay again unless I can find a similar rate in Manhattan.
1. Location - given the low rates vs Manhattan and the very easy access (about 5-8 minutes, maybe 10 by subway to UES or 59/5, and 10-12 minutes to TS), the location can't be beat unless you must be in Manhattan for some reason.
I walked from 39Av at all hours of the day/night and there are no safety issues in the neighborhood. This is a 4-5 minute walk without luggage.
2. Rooms - this is New York - the rooms are small - very small. Two people will have trouble in here with bags as there is limited space to place more than 1-2 bags. The rooms are clean, and in good condition for a New York property. The bed is comfortable and the bed skirt appears free of any tell-tale bedbug trails
3. Platinum - no suite upgrade, but I was given a balcony room with city view. The balcony is huge (maybe 50% of the room size) and might double as a place to store unneeded luggage. Continental breakfast or points were offered at check-in.
4. Notes - the 39Av subway has lots of steps and no elevator - keep this in mind if you're toting lots of luggage as you will need to carry it down and back up again at departure. Queensboro Plaza station also has no elevator.
5. Service - staff were very friendly and welcoming throughout the stay. Management was seen often, and frequently engaged with customers and staff.
I'm contemplating a future stay here for a couple nights to avoid the cost of Manhattan. Not expecting a suite upgrade or anything, especially given that the hotel only appears to have 1 suite. Mainly curious about the current condition of the property, rooms, and hotel staff. As well as if anything new has popped up in the area (e.g. late night store or coffee shops nearby).

Hope this helps!
Overall I have very mixed feelings about my stay! I arrived around 3:30 pm and my first thought was that it was in a dumpy area. Hotel itself is nice and the lobby is nicely decorated. When I tried to check in I was told that the suite was not ready yet so they asked me to wait and after finding out it would be cleaned in approx. 30 minutes I agreed to do so. Hotel only has one suite and it is located on the 10th floor. Overall I was pretty impressed by the size of the suite and it had one of the nicest carrera marble baths I have seen in a 4 Pts. Suite had a nice view of the city and bridge.
Since I had an early morning flight I decided to eat in the hotel restaurant on the lobby floor. Food and service were good and reasonably priced but the kicker was that a Gin & Tonic in a small glass was $13! They even had a decent looking espresso machine so I decided to try one as well after dinner and it was actually pretty good.
So after dinner I am thinking.....why does this hotel get bad reviews? Up until now everything had been better than most of my past Four Points stays. Well when I got up to the room after dinner I noticed some light sounds of music coming from the floor above me. That would generally not be an issue but within the next 1-2 hours the music got so loud that I thought I was in a club. I ended up going downstairs and they said the 11th floor had been rented out for the night for an event. I was told that the event would end at 12pm and that they would try and see if they could keep down the music to a reasonable noise level. Naturally I questioned why they would put me in a suite directly under the event when they knew it was going to be loud. Agent said he could not answer that since he did not check me in. Well the music continued to get progressively louder as the night went on. In addition to the banging music, I could hear screaming patrons and the dj egging on the crowd. By 12:15 I had had enough so I called down to the front desk to remind the agent that I had been told it would be done by 12. He said he would send someone up and the music eventually stopped. I thought I could get some sleep now but noise above me continued as the clearly were either cleaning the room or moving out some of the equipment or doing other things in the space.
Anyway...that was my lovely night at the hotel. I asked for the Hotel Manager to call me the next day and I got a call from the Front Desk Manager. He really was not overly apologetic and he said that it's that time of year where people book parties. To me that is fine and understandable but this clearly was not a low key party but a full blown out rowdy dance event. I questioned why they would put a guest under the party and not block the floor when the clearly were not sold out. He said...we only have one suite which is fine but had I been told about the event I would have not waited 30 minutes for the suite but I would have asked for a room away from the noise. He offered me 3000 points but when I said that was not sufficient he said he would have to speak with the Hotel owner. Anyway...got a call back with a confirmed compensation of 5000 points. I guess I am happy with that but anyone booking a suite here might want to confirm there is no party planned for that night. (I got the feeling this was either a weekly or monthly thing based on the conversations I overheard in the elevator and not just a holiday party.)

Platinum upgrade to a room with beautiful views in poor repair. Warm evening in New York so air conditioner cycled on and off all night with loud noise and extreme vibration providing no opportunity for rest or sleep.
Staff was worse with no response when reporting the issue in the morning. Restaurant doesn't serve breakfast until 7:30am, but even at 7:35am there was no wait staff to take orders.
Still no response or feedback, though not sure they received my comments as the hotel does not make it easy to communicate with management.
