I found these listings for Mobil 5 Star and AAA 5 Diamond award winners. They also include links to most of the hotels websites. I thought they might make a quick reference and be worth adding to your list.

I thought it was interesting that they list winners for previous years as well.

True Luxury

Hi all,
Just came back from 4 nights in Mexico. I spent them at Azul Blue. Amazing. The gourmet cuisine is unbelievable. I will be doing a trip report but thought I'd add this here.

The website for the hotel chain is http://azulbluemexico.com It defines luxury. Also, the group that it belongs to is www.karismahotels.com as noted below by Kagehitokiri. Thanks

Cheers

What a great resource this thread is, thank you.

I run a luxury travel blog (link removed... sorry, didn't know that was against the rules... thanks for PM) which has a number of links on it also. I'm now going to wade through this thread, and see if I can pick up bits of news that I can add...

I just found a new website which might be nice but there is only a teaser at the moment. Anyone heard about it? www.grandluxuryhotels.com
It seems to be a french owned company. Let's wait and see....

As I am a bit curious, I sent them an Email, and they just answered. As the opening date is in 2008, the apparently didn't want to tell me too much about it. They just wrote (very nice lettre btw) that it would be a real selection of the most exclusive hotels, a kind of label and that we would know more about it in november. They told me they would send a personnal e mail to inform me... I hope I'll receive something by the end of the year and I'll come back to you if I have more information...

I'd like to add "The Leading Hotels of the World".

It's a bigger status in Europe than in the US, but they have to be high ranked in several qualities to be considered a "leading hotel".

www.lhw.com

There is also a new one opening in Munich next month which we're staying at in January.

Perk-not sure about other airlines, but Skymiles are earned through www.lhw.com/skymiles

looks kinda like Virtuoso. fair number of properties, seems like fewer luxury ones though.

http://www.perfectescapes.com/ another, but no way to tell which properties offer the benefits. actually, looks like a front end for ensemble.

"Signature Hotels and Resorts" and another, with plenty of luxury properties and some confirmed upgrades. they provide a way for each member to publicly display the benefits directory > http://www.signaturetravelnetwork.co...&agency_id=571

http://www.magellanvacations.com/destinations.shtml
kind of like signature/ensemble/virtuoso, except less benefits, and more discounts. (some great discounts) also some confirmed upgrades, although nothing THAT valuable. (montage beverly hills was only one i didnt check.)

I've tried http://www.luxurylink.com before, and I can recommend trying out the travel auctions they have. Will check out the other recommendations here!
