The CCR has wild swings in quality too; I actually prefer MUC/FRA lounges for food for some reason - but give me a sandwich/scone/cocktail at the LHR CCR and I'm happy. The bar staff there make some interesting cocktails and take pride in their work; at the FRA FCT I feel like you have some junior wait staff stumbling through a cocktail recipe at times...

BA F onboard is a mixed bag... they try at least. You are guaranteed Pommery Louise at the CCR and they now have four sparkling wines onboard with at least one Premium. Good 'ol LPGS even made a comeback last May. Don Julio 1942 tequila, a decent scotch, etc. Couple that with JFK Chelsea (visiting in May 2026), which has Dom/Cristal/LPGS/Krug on rotation, and BA can actually be ultra premium at times.

The CCR food is nice enough, but nothing to write home about (QF F lounges are way better in terms of food). The afternoon tea sweets are less than mediocre. And the sparking water is often very close to flat.
Of course BA F price is often a lot cheaper than LH F.

If you look for quantity of food go to McDonald's.
Have you ever been in a 2 or 3☆ Michelin restaurant in France? You know the French cuisine is the worldwide reference point for fine dining. A menu cost 150 - 800. Tiny quantities, but 5 to 8 courses. For fine dining it's quality what counts, not quantity.
If you take all entres, the main course, cheese and a desert that's largely enough for Eurpeans of normal size.

I do agree that LH F food isn't what it should be. Tbh, I think that TK J catering is better than LH F's, although obviously the rest of the experience isn't on a par. Personally, I think the more pressing issue is around the IFE and Wi-Fi situation. Those screens are tiny and ancient, the selection poor, and the wi-fi glacially slow. With Starlink only seemingly to be coming 2028/29 at the earliest, despite all the fanfare of a deal.

I'm not of normal size that is why I expect more quantity for the price of the ticket. My wife wants me to keep my size. On the ground McDonald's is my go to place having left too many of the world's Michelin starred restaurants short of starvation. I hope we'll see a McDonald's fly-thru soon. Ozempic is needed in one of eight F pax from my observation. My favorite 3*** Michelin restaurant currently is Jordnaer. And always remember: quantity over quality or vice versa.
Jordnaer is danish and actually means down to earth 🫢

No idea how anyone would read But good is not enough as there ought to be more (quantative) instead of needs to better than good (qualitative)?
Anyhow, in general I just accept the fact that the meals on board are just that airplane food. I wouldnt go back to any restaurant if they would serve me that. No matter LH or LX (and for a matter of fact same for AF).
Funny enough, had a fantastic dinner ex-MUC on VX in J. That was aaaaaawesome. And yes that served in a restaurant, I definitely would return! But sadly was a one-timer. Next flight was meh again.

Depends on the comparison and what you end up paying. I have had some F worthy food on LH, consistently ... no ... sometimes, yes. Booze is sad these days and it all depends on whether they gave the intern money to buy decent champagne. If they have a good rotation you might have a high end $200 bottle on vintage champagne - if you are not so lucky ... then you get a $60 mediocre bottle. Stopped drinking wine on planes a while ago (well, o.k., now that UA has premium reds in Polaris ... I have been drinking again
) and unless you fly EK you are not going to consistently get premium reds in F.
Would I pay $15k for TATL F on LH - hell no. Is it perfectly adequate if I can get US-EU-Asia for $9k ... I'd say so.

Just had several bottles of Deutz and the Riesling and the Spaetburgunder arent bad either. Happy camper rn, but nobody knows what the next cycle will bring.
Main (veal cheeks?) wasnt too bad either and a lot of meat.
Whether LH F is acceptable or not (for an F product) depends a lot on price and soup of the day.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the onboard product yet. Swiss First on the 77W is the best First seat within the group by a mile. Granted, I have yet to fly the new Allegris First, but from the reviews, it doesn't even come close to the LX seat. And as far as the First cabin on the 748 goes, apart from the inherent charm of taking another ride on the iconic 747, the product is outdated and prone to technical errors. On my 3 last flights, all in 2025, at least one seat has been inop every single time.
