G-VIIX UVF-LGW 02 Mar Delay +2

Hi all,
I have friends x 4 who were on this flight. They were
onboard ready to go but had to disembark when the plane went tech. They were taken to a hotel 2 hours away which was arranged by BA's representives at UVF.
They haven't rec'd a single message from BA by email or text. They called me. I rang BA yesterday who said its going at 18.00 on 3 Mar and advised me to tell them to get a taxi to the airport in good time. When the taxi arrived the driver seemed to know a bit more. He said to them it was not going to leave. BA flight status then showed 1800 + 2 as the delay.
Here we are on day +2 and flight status no longer shows this flight. Furthermore the 2 PNR's have been purged. I called BA who said they'd call me back whilst they rang operations. They duly called back and said there's a tentative time of 22.00 tonight but its not definite. BA were not talking to me re the specific PNR's because of GDP. They were giving info on the flight status only.
Do the friends take a 2 hour taxi to the airport? Airport hotels are full if unsucessful (one of the pax is a level 2 wheelchair).
Remember BA are not contacting them at all. I have a screenshot from yesterday confirming the correct contact details are in the booking. It is a TUI package. TUI don't have any knowledge of the delay. Should these pax buy the last 4 Y's on tonight's scheduled flight at 7,200?
Any info on the status of the original flight would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Thank you,
With that info and the fact that hotels are all full tonight I'll send them to the airpprt and hope that it goes, otherwise they're on the airport floor tonight

Parking the annoyance with BA comms, aren't TUI the Travel Agent here and shouldn't they be supporting / liaising ?

Yes, finally this afternoon I have got TUI to call them.
On my first call to TUI yesterday they said that they couldn't see any info about a delay and that the pax were down as no-shows. I asked them to call BA and sort it out but they said they wouldn't be able to call BA because they wouldn't pass GDPR because of the way in which they book flights!!! They were as useful as a chocolate teapot. With help like that you go it alone. Anyway, after another call to them today reading the P. T. Regs etc they have actually made contact so at least I can semi step aside. TUI know nothing about the 2200 departure time tonight but my friends will head off to the airport.

How on earth had TUI booked the flights then if they can't pass GDPR. Sounds as though they haven't done their job properly in the first place and are trying to pass the buck - the agent(s) obviously don't know about BA Trade Support.

No.it hasn't.
Flight Status only lets you go back by 1 day. Therefore you cannot put in a departure that was supposed to be 2 days ago. Moreover, both PNR's for the 4 passengers were purged because we are now 2 days past the original flight date and so there is no way to see the booking even though it is really still live. When I called BA with the locator the clerk entered the details and said there was nothing there which is further proof of a purge. There's certainly a fault in the system on these rare ocassions if you're not receiving comms.

well even more now this a TUI problem, not a BA one. If BA delays a flight the bookings remain in place for said flights, so my guess is that TUI is playing dumb, at the end the day your friends booked this as a TUI Package and therefore TUI Should sort their travel arrangements out. BA won’t touch the bookings as it’s a travel agent booking. GDPR or not.

and yes the BA times on the app show the new departure, which means it’s live in all systems, so TUI is talking rubbish to your friends and you

I wonder if the friend’s personal contact information was not in the BA booking but perhaps the details of the Agent, I’ve has this in the past. Some obscure email address, hence why the pax aren’t getting the messages ..

Unfortunately this happens way too often and then passengers dont get the updates and blame the operating carrier for not keeping them updated. I always tell people to log on to the operating airline website and check/update contact details.

Its not this. When retrieving the booking on ba.com the very first screen that showed was the one which asks to confirm that the contact details are correct. Both the correct email and mobile shown were correct. This is what made it a mystery as to why there wasn't a single communication.
Anyhow, GGL had given me a tentative 22.00 for that flight number earlier yesterda, and Can I Help You confirmed it in post a post above later in the day. Therefore I advised them to take the 2 hour taxi ride to the airport which they did and, thankfully, the plane was there and took off sometime around 22.00
In the meantime TUI couldn't find out any info whatever to help.
Many thanks All

Apart from the statutory compensation from BA if payable, I would claim any additional costs for hotel and food etc. from the tour operator, TUI once they are home safely and settled.
