MIA-GRU last week

Salad was 95% leaves and 3 cucumbers and tomatoes.

Starter was an interesting sweet potato tartare like thing. It was actually pretty good.

Lo Mein was fine. Lacking in flavor depth, but sufficiently filling and non-greasy
Lo Mein was fine. Lacking in flavor depth, but sufficiently filling and non-greasy. Tofu and trumpet mushrooms added good texture. As a vegetarian, it was decent for an AA in flight meal. Better than the cheese-on-cheese-on-cheese pasta options

My wife got the short rib. She was decidedly less happy with her selection.

I ate alot at the CX lounge at Heathrow before boarding the plane but i still found stomach to sample and report

I preordered the sunday beef roast and it was pretty good. I would recommend. The starter was ok and nothing memorable. Ice cream is always good

The prelanding snack was chicken cha shiu bao. It is an embarrassment. If this is American trying to go premium, american isn't going to go very far... I mean, at least put some effort if you are going to try to go premium?

Warm nuts and a coke - a good pair

Beef Sunday Roast - quite good and quite british!

This can never go wrong. If you can't do ice cream right, you shouldn't be in the business

AA 26 HND LAX
Business/25Feb

Service from our primary FA was very good, the other one was a little snippy. I understand bread service isnt automatically included with the Japanese meal but at least it should be offered and not just ignore me

JAL Japanese meal was top notch and borderline restaurant quality as always but the arrival quiche dish was..disturbing to say the least

Chicken meatballs have always been really good (despite one FT's rants!...we all know who that person is). It's generally heathier than beef and easy to re-heat and serve.

Hi, I've got my first AA business class flight coming up next month (LAX - LHR).

When I logged in to manage my booking yesterday, the choice of meals was available, although I didn't pick anything at the time.

However, it now shows as "Meal selection is not available because this flight only offers a preset meal" - surely that can't be right for a long-haul flight?

Is this a temporary thing, maybe a technical bug? Thanks!

Just a bug. You can try calling in or Twitter and they may be able to help you with your meal choice.

Very nice! Love that AA partners with JL for the Japanese meal! (wish UA would do the same with NH!)

One senior FA was so loud in the galley, it was an absolute joke. Purser was ambivalent. It was my worst AA long haul flight ever. Typically heading down that way LAX/SYD was always fantastic crews with FA's who really cared.
I have had two international flights like this (one BA) where the FA had no clue how the plane worked. On the BA flight the FA could not operate the intercom and someone had to come help her disarm the door. The AA flight the crew had no idea how to serve a meal.. a senior person has to come explain everything including how to identify what they were serving

I dont they at least have some training? Especially things that are safety related.

Allegedly AA only devotes like one day of training to service, and much of what new hires need to know when it comes to meal service are learned on the job.

How is AA not just using BA's caterer and leaving it at that?

Insane move by an airline that's lost its mind in general. There is no way I'd trust AA to not poison me with double catered food.

What a mess. I wonder what those ex-LHR meals will look like. J offered instant ramen with some dried protein or jerky, Y offered a bread roll and a peanut butter packet?

Agreed, and for an additional reason: isn't that part of the benefit/point of flying to a partner's hub? They can help you out when necessary.
In reality, each carrier might take care of their own everything--ground handling, meals, whatever--but the synergy seems like low hanging fruit.

FAs will prowl the aisles, looking for passengers who are approaching the halfway mark on meal consumption. At that precise moment, one will swoop in like a hawk and say, "you've had enough to eat I think," with a schoolteacher-like tone. Half eaten meals will then be placed back in the chiller, and reheated and served for some very lucky inbound passengers.

I flew LHR-ORD today in J - two options, beef or chicken, catered out of DFW. Apparently pax with dietary restrictions were contacted in the morning alerting them to this. Purser said only around 25% of the flights are managing to get catered today. Everyone got a meal, but DFW was scrambling to get anything on board, so we got breakfast for our pre-arrival meal. I didn't bother with lunch as I had enough in the lounge. FAs were trying to make the best of the situation. Alcohol stocks were dangerously low by the end of the flight. They also ran out of clean glassware so swapped to plastic pretty quickly.
