you wont see much difference on a short route like AMS-CDG between AF and KL. KL wont have BoB on these short routes. It just going to be tea, coffee, juice or water and a biscuit. AF will offer the same but with some wines and beers on top. The sandwich will go away.

the biggest difference will be on longer route. KL will have buy on board whereas AF will have the enhanced sandwiches box for free.

Does BOB only available on flights over 1hr15 also apply to bar service? Feels bizarre if I cant even buy a beer on a flight home :-/

You can, you just need to book with Ryanair.

And the commenter might be better off with Ryanair. Non-stop service, shorter total flight time and same or lower pricing for the same (if not better) qualify than KLM

An Update on BOB; from march 29 uptill april 25th new test flights in economy will take place on following destinations;
MAD/VLC/HEL/OSL ON THESE FLIGHTS the so called complimentary service ( free coffee/tea/water/apple juice and stroopwaffle) will be offered , a long with a partly new BOB assortment and pre order service ( same 3 items as before)
on BHX ; complimentary service and pre order service ( no BOB)

Whats new; on KLM mainline ( 737/a321) an extra oven is on board allowing tostis etc on cityhopper this is not possible( lack of oven storage options), a new menu card is available, also an improvement in payment device ( which will also be used in very near future for offline seat upgrades on board). KLC staff will get a sales and product training

For Platinum/PLFL/SKIPPERS/C2000/ULTI a free snack/sandwich and beverage is included, its not yet decided that this will be standard upob introduction of the BOB service ( october 25)
Overnight flights will be part of the trial, it seems that klm finally found a solution for cooling on out stations.

Flying Blue experience will be part of the trial so expect more inquiries .....

XPs to be earned for proactively rejecting the "snack" (the bocaditos and sandwiches with the weird veggie paste always get a no from me)?

👍

Is the Platinum (+) complimentary item a free choice from the menu, or a specific item chosen by KLM? If the latter, do you know what the procedure will be if that thing happens to run out?

That's quite interesting that they are adding an oven for BoB. I assume Business will remain with that horrid wanderbox...

That is not what that says.

It says those airframes have (an) extra oven(s) on-board compared to the Embrears. Not that it was added for BoB.

The 737s for example have a total of 7 ovens (3 front + 4 rear) and the A321neo has 2 (1 + 1). The Embrears however each only have one, and no space to expand this.

The idea is that plat and plus pax can get to know the bob product and obviously the airline hopes the elite pax enjoys more choice . It’s 1 extra snack / sandwich etc and 1 xtra drink eg a sandwich of choice and bottle wine etc .

KLM launches final test phase of new Europe catering service

https://www.afkl.biz/trade/s/news-de...678&country=NL

KLM is constantly looking for opportunities to further develop its products and services to meet customer expectations. In February 2025, KLM began testing a new onboard catering service on its European flights. Customers traveling in Economy Class on routes to Oslo, Lisbon, and Porto had the option to purchase additional products onboard, while still receiving a complimentary drink and snack.

Taking this further, KLM has now launched a final test phase to further enhance its onboard experience. From March 29 through April 25, 2026, the service is being tested on select routes: Madrid, Valencia, Helsinki, Oslo, and Birmingham. Customers receive a complimentary offering, with the option to preorder meals when booking or via MyTrip. On most routes, additional items are also available for purchase onboard.

Customers can select from a range of preordered meals and enjoy a new menu card with an expanded range, including hot snacks. Orders can be placed throughout the flight, except during taxi, takeoff, and landing. Payment options include credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and Miles.

Customers booked on a test flight will be informed about the renewed service by email prior to departure. Please note that not all customers may receive this communication, for example, in cases of agency bookings or incorrect email addresses. Please ensure that accurate passenger contact details are added to the booking so we can inform customers accordingly.
Paid offer consists of:
- chicken Caesar salad
- salmon poke bowl
- Beemster cheese platter.
