Sounds like, they’re doing fine as a business if people are willing to pay a quarter of a thousand for a 50 minute flight 😁

Evolved? More like took some steroids for rapid but not healthy growth. I'm reminded of my dearly departed apricot tree, which one year, had so much fruit on one branch that it finally gave way, leaving a huge tear in the trunk, inviting illness to the tree, causing its ultimate demise.
My mouth is watering, dreaming of the cornucopia of delights that will be overflowing from the snack basket. May the FA remember a PDB and perhaps two beverage runs, for the comfortably numb I'd like to be when arriving.

My biggest air travel gripe is not with an airline, but SAN: Airport authority spent $3.8 billion replacing terminal 1, adding miles of 2 and 3 lane dedicated roadways, which now feature 3 one-lane choke points. What is the point of driving at near highway speeds to then wait in a parking lot to check in, pick up arrivals or leave terminal 2. Just waiting for someone to find a way to blame this on ALK management.

Meanwhile, today I had a unicorn transaction. I wasn't quite sure the last dates of the SFO/BUR route. I checked for flights (after seeing the outrageous WN prices OAK/BUR if I wanted a chance of a decent seat and a boarding zone for a chance of my carry on bag) and voila, for a bit over $200, I get the joy of flying an OO plane one last time on the route. (The price was almost as outrageous as WN from OAK.) AS tried to sell me a $40 upgrade, but I declined. After ticketing, within a few minutes, I received a You've been upgraded to First Class email. I had no idea that my fare was in a seat bucket high enough for the possible instant upgrade, nor did I check for U space. After all my whining, I will get to fly SFO/BUR for "only" $243 and enjoy the opulent splendor of the AS/OO F experience on the route. My mouth is watering, dreaming of the cornucopia of delights that will be overflowing from the snack basket. May the FA remember a PDB and perhaps two beverage runs, for the comfortably numb I'd like to be when arriving.

But most of us don't, having watched Alaska go from something good to now looking at alternatives. Disappearing interlining, forwarding baggage, buy First, get lounge access along with doubling Boardroom fees, greatly diminished upgrades, chip-chip-chip, etc. These are all own goals.
But if you are a fan of a third rate actor maybe poor performance is acceptable to you?

I think this thread has officially run its course and should be locked. Alaska is “crashing and burning” because they offer a snack basket on a short intra-California route? Is that what this thread has devolved into? Complaining about possibly the pettiest of petty?

I am sure you do.

I can think of NOTHING they are doing better now than 5 years ago.
Service, interlining, IT, IRROPS: all have been a dogs breakfast.
Nothing like sitting on SEA's Taxiway Tango for 3 hours after a flight from CLE waiting for AS IT to get their **** together...

no I’m saying the specific examples you mention in your previous post “boardroom fees” and upgrade changes. That’s all deliberate, just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean they’re crashing and burning.

Forward how?
