I flew SIN-EWR two weeks ago and sat in Seat 19K. Here are my main observations regarding some of the issues discussed in this thread:
-The comfort level for sleeping or sitting upright is incomparably superior in the bulkhead seats. In addition, the overall spaciousness of the entire bulkhead seat area was critical for me. On such a long flight, the non-bulkhead seats make me feel claustrophobic, but the bulkheads are so open there is no feeling of being closed in, even after 17+ hours.
-Noise from the galley was a complete non-issue. While this is based on crew behavior, chances are virtually 100% your crew will be quiet, respectful, and professional.
-Premium Economy passengers passing through the rear Business cabin during boarding is another non-issue. There are only 92 PE seats so having, at most, half those people pass through your aisle is of no consequence.
-There are no hoops to jump through to snag a bulkhead seat. I fell asleep at the switch and didnt check bulkhead availability until online 48 hours prior. Lucky for me, 19K was available.
Overall, the bulkhead seat made the ultra long journey a pleasure!

I have just secured 2x seats in row 19 at T-96 on the A350-900 (i.e. the bulkhead + bassinet row).
I do not have an infant travelling with me, but I do have a 4 year old child that I need to sit next to.
How should I think about the risk of another passenger showing up with an infant and us being moved out of the seats I have just selected for row 19?

Just to add some alternative perspective for others on this thread, I am 180cm tall and have size 43-44 feet and I say this above is a huge exaggeration (based on personal trips SIN-AU on the regional A350 but also the ULH US-SIN).
The bulkheads are roomier no doubt, but I've rarely found them worth the machinations often needed to land them these days. You're going to travel comfortably either way.

This question has been debated almost as long as the seats were first introduced.
Clearly there are probably better seats around, especially for ULH flights but, at 180cm, I've never had a problem but I do tend to sleep on my side.
SQ cannot provide enough J seats on flights, especially to Australia as it is really difficult to find anything over this holiday season in or out of most Australian cities so most pax find them comfortable enough.
As mentioned above, other airlines are usually available if you find the SQ seat unbearable. Sure beats Y.

While SQ usually assigns the bulkhead automatically for me upon booking, when I do book last min (more and more the norm for me), the bulkhead seats are generally already taken. I will then happily grab the normal seats and am able to sleep without any contortions (also a side sleeper).
If I had a gripe it is that you feel the age of the seats, with some of the padding worn off. The new product cannot come soon enough!
I think the whole bulkhead issue is overblown somewhat and made worse in peoples minds by online reports.
I have encountered plenty of people on the ULH routes who dont even bother to recline their seat let alone have it flipped for sleeping!

Traveling on SQ 21/22 in February. Using EF to set alerts but it is showing the seats as "occupied" and not just blocked. Is this normal for EF to show as occupied or is it likely those seats are taken already? Was going to attempt to chat, then call if unsuccessful at T-96.

At T-96, if a seat becomes available, EF will show it. It routinely has for me, as T-96 is part of my vacation rhythm given I often take several SQ segments (and have feet).
Good luck - Jamie

Normal to show occupied, as EF doesn't differentiate between occupied and blocked. I've even called SQ to ask whether an actual person is sitting in those seats, because if they are then I grow less optimistic about T-96 (agents won't always tell, but some do).

When I called the agent said the seats were selected by other passengers (ie, not blocked). 10A opened up about 4 months later. Maybe it was really blocked? Maybe it was a passenger who changed their plans. I'll never know. Either way, my expert flier seat alert worked and I grabbed it. Hopefully you get lucky too.

Apologies if asked and answered. Wife and I flying SYD-SIN-SFO in April. Layover is 22 hours. Can I attempt to book the bulkhead at 96 hrs prior to first flight for both flights? Or do I need to do 96 hrs prior to each flight?? Also, is 96 hrs only for PPS or all passengers? Otherwise 48 hrs for non-PPS??
Thank you

Booked on SQ 21 on Feb 10, 2 business seats, one of us already booked in 10A. I chatted online today at T-96 and asked if we could be seated in 11 D/F/K or 19 A/D/F/K if available. Was told only 19F open, so we kept 10A and took 19F. Was very simple, no questions asked, and quick. Looking forward to trying out the bulkhead, in addition to the excellent Singapore service and food!
I am thinking about asking the pax in 19D, if they are traveling solo, if they would consider a swap to 10A so that I can sit next to my traveling companion. Any thoughts on if 10A is a better seat than 19D, so that I can potentially sell it as a "win-win"? Or is 10A considered to be less desirable than 19D?

Should you be able to sort out swap with pax before boarding, all the better.
