So yes, SQ's 77W any day of the week, agreed, especially given I managed to secure a bulkhead seat so even better leg / foot space.

The 2-3-2 on the LH 747 reminds me of an old story about one of my colleagues flying to FRA from Dubai many years ago when the 747 had F upstairs. He was in C and he figured if he dressed nicely he would have a chance of getting upgraded to F. In the Dubai hotel he put on his nicest suit and went for the airport. Not only did the suit not help him because he didnt get any upgrade despite asking, but he also could only have one of the middle seats in C on the 747. On top of everything he managed to get the suit jacket stuck in the seat so he tore up the damn thing getting out when they got to FRA 😭😭😭

Well, SQ is adding a 3rd flight to FRA sometime in Jan 2026, but also down gauging SQ325/26 A388 to 77W. So 1x A359 (no F - yet) and 2x 77W with 4 (older) F at least for remainder of Winter Schedule 2025/26, no Suites for a bit.
MUC gets reduced to 5x weekly down from 7x for a while too.
The A388s are getting deployed to Auckland for what's peak travel period there.

It only happens around Feb, definitely not December.

Dec should be fairly safe (schedule wise) I agree, technical issues aside (SQ keep a spare though).
The switch for FRA in Jan-Feb- Mar is typically due to the need for capacity to NZ (AKL). They need the A388, not even because they sell out Suites, but Eco and Biz is super full, as mentioned.

Choosing between the 2-3-2 LD and 2-2 UD on the LH B744 to 1-2-2/2-2-1 on the LX B77W? If traveling solo and especially with status the single seats on the B77W are much better than what LH has to offer. Also ZRH beats FRA by a mile for transfers. I'd take LX over LH any time.

Once the 789 Allegris issues are over one of the 744s reverts back to FRA-YYZ so that means one route elsewhere will get an improvement. It was supposed to happen in March I believe but when the 789 issues were pushed back the 789 stays on YYZ until the new date. Actually it needs to come back. Although AC is preferable if you need different timing with only 4 J seats the LH option has only been selling J and C buckets with a rare D fare sometimes which has led to some crazy connecting through FRA price quotes

That change from 4 available business class seats to 67 available business class seats should certainly bring some relief to that pricing then. The surrealistic ripple effects from the Allegris introduction should make for great case study at MBA programs around the wold.

Have booked PE award for a family of 4 on the FRA-SIN 747-400, was looking forward to it because... nostalgia. Until i read this thread.
Is it worth the €2000 to bid for minimum upgrade to Biz? Kids are young but thought they might enjoy the 3 across (with mum in the middle of course)

Only your personal circumstances can determine if that is worth the 2,000

I will be onboard this next week heading to SIN - mainly for the nostalgia and possibly last time onboard this "original" Queen of the Skies that's served and the working horse of LH for so long . Managed to secure seats upper deck.
Luckily I'm travelling as a pair, so at least the footsy play on these seats will not be awkward
and hoping will not be too delayed (from what I have observed, arriving ahead of schedule does not seem to be high probability the last few days)
Cheers!
