My rate dropped from 96K to 90K - now, I can buy 6K extra worth of video games ;-)

I completed my stay here yesterday and leave with the impression that this is a good hotel but far too expensive for what it is. If I was looking for a hotel with a similar benefit set within Bonvoy, I would go with the Westin or if I didnt care about the lounge, I might just stay at Prince Gallery if it remains cheaper on cash than the JW. Here are my impressions and photos:

Note: Yes, there is train noise, but I could completely drown it out with the noise from the air purifier, which I would have had on anyway - so this really didnt affect my stay.

Pros:
  • Upgraded to an Executive Suite before arrival - large full suite
  • Bed is comfortable enough - mattress is definitely on the firmer side but is fine, covers are plush enough, pillows are large and plush without being too hard
  • Shower pressure from the rainfall head is good and strong
  • Service seems friendly and well-meaning - though, you can tell a bit more time will be needed to get into gear
  • Lounge afternoon tea chocolate tarts and scones were really good
  • Lounge has good guava juice

Neutral:
  • Lounge breakfast - omelet was good as was the salmon but buffet is small and I wasnt a big fan of the pastry quality at this price point - to my knowledge, restaurant breakfast isnt an option for Elites
  • Furniture definitely leans towards design over comfort in the living room

Cons:
  • Only able to get 2 PM late checkout in the suite due to availability - trade-off Im willing to make but noting here for others
  • They took a 110K deposit at check-in and then charged me the 90K stay total again after check-out - Im assuming the 110K will drop off but seems like bad deposit practices when they could have just taken the 90K from the deposit - I would recommend just checking in and out at the front desk as the lounge seemed a bit choppy on logistics

Congratulations on the air purifier. I was unable to secure one during my stay, so good to make that request well in advance.

Did they just change the breakfast at restaurant option for elites?
We stayed at the hotel and had restaurant breakfast as Platinum

The breakfast and evening lounge food options are very good.
I actually prefer this breakfast to the one at Osaka station hotel.

Nice to see Polar Bear on the bed again!

They were already in the suite - no request made by me.

I was not offered restaurant breakfast but perhaps that was because I checked in at the lounge so they only knew of lounge breakfast being included. I also didnt explicitly ask because brand standard is lounge breakfast only and I figured I would at least try it once.

That's interesting since my Bay View room had one already in the room. I thought it was a standard for all rooms.

Thanks for the review.

The decor in the living room is incredibly bland and (at least in the photos) the cabinetry appears rather cheap. The rounded sofa and chair are all the rage but I also find them impractical/uncomfortable.

I had been there for drinks. Totally puzzled why they need to use dark wood for a top floor lobby with walls blocking off natural sunlight from the windows. They have totally missed out the chance of building a striking lobby.

My wife and I felt the same way about the look of the rooms prior to staying but I think it looks a lot more tasteful in person surprisingly.

Agree, not a huge fan and I honestly think that's the weirdest looking tub I've ever seen. Not a fan of that and the sink looks odd to me but can't say why. Hotel looks nice but for $700+, I'm not so sure.

Thanks ElevatorEnthusiast as always for a great review. Unable to like.

Agreed, I would love for plush couches to come back in style - Park Hyatt suffers from the same issue of couches that look nice but are kind of hard.

Perhaps climate control is easier with less space open to windows? I thought the same that it was odd the space was so enclosed despite being on the top floor.

Youre welcome - agreed that the sink looks cheap but it actually feels okay in person.
