Generally available on all flights (including widebodies) over 900 miles except Premium Transcon (EWR<>SFO/LAX)
Pre-order has priority on the flight even about GS/1K and while originally pre-order was limited to a portion of each inflight choice, recent reports pre-order can consume the entire flight's allocation of a particular offering.

Maybe you can convince your better half to be a taste tester for the gnudi?

The better half knows UA as well as I do and agreed that the beef was the only safe choice... Airline Chicken, Gnudi, Beef, and Seabass. She doesn't trust UA fish (after several quite poor experiences)...

IMO, chicken is usually ok. Not great, not bad. For the non-gambler.
i have had good luck with UA fish (excluding salmon, which is just salmon). I had halibut a couple of weeks back that was outstanding! A small-medium gamble, but not like the Short Rib.
Chips pushed in? Short Rib!
(I guess the question is, what is worse? A bad piece of fish (smell), or a bad short rib (spitting out fat/gristle) A personal choice!)

It's sad because we both used to enjoy the Asian options on our flights to / from Tokyo -- now it's just beef...
On this flight we will eat in the PL and then once served make the call -- either right to bed or eat. We both sleep to the last second and rarely eat the arrival meal into the EU.

I havent eaten a Polaris meal since Pre-Covid. Before that there was an Asian chicken noodle curry dish that was outstanding. Really disappointing.
I did get an email and menu for my ZRH - EWR meal tomorrow but I didnt order anything. Poor Gnudi never had a chance. Perhaps if they renamed it Fluffy Ricotta Pillows in Pesto Cream Sauce?

I had the gnudi on EWR-Italy last week. Not knowing what it really was, I was disappointed. But, of course, all meals in Polaris are basically disappointing. Good thing I had a meal in the PL a few hours before so I wasn't starving. Oh, and the entire meal was served frozen except the gnudi. Salad? Had ice on it. Butter? You had zero chance of it being spreadable before the plane landed. Bread? Might have broken the window if you threw the bread at it.
I keep getting hounded with pre-order emails for my upcoming three leg journey. It's super annoying. I don't care and I'll pre-order if I want to. Stop emailing me 10x a day about it.

Just did that from Switzerland. Delicious. Not sure about the breakfast version that is tied to you your dinner selection, but they swapped mine out for the regular eggs.

I don't think they have special order for breakfast. I was offered the regular menu only when serving breakfast.

Interesting. I had that discussion with the FA both ways. He said that Non-Veg order was supposed determine your breakfast as well. I traded with my son. 😁

I totally understand linking the two meals, since it is perhaps likely that one would like all ones food in the same style. However, whereas there are many cuisines where I delight in having their dinners, for several, I dont really like their breakfast. Most FAs seem happy to help out if they have others on hand. It5 remains to be seen how this works under the new preorder-only regime starting in March.
Agree that flavor was real good! And if I may, US portion sizing is so out of whack with the rest of the world, that to me the portion was Goldilocks just right.
Another funny thing is that UA is calling it a non-veg meal. That means there is meat in it, as so many Hindu meals do not, and now diners are being warned about the presence of meat. Note that in the US (and most of the western world), we warn people if there is not meat/fish in the meal, by calling it vegetarian. Nothing wrong with either, but my FAs were confused and kept referring to it as my vegetarian meal. I didnt correct them, but it go me confused every time, and had me checking once more as to what I was actually eating. 😁
