At card approval.
you get XP when BoA approves your application. You then wait 7-10 business days to receive the physical card.

on the date of approval:
- the card will Show up on your BoA app
- XP will show up on the Air France app

Thanks. The reality appears to be different than what is represented in the Bank of America application page:

"Earn 70,000 Bonus Miles + 100 Experience Points (XP) after you make $3,000 or more in purchases within the first 90 days of your account opening."

Has anyone here successfully applied for a Bank of America Flying Blue Visa with a relatively young US credit profile and an ITIN (no SSN)?

Last year I was declined for a BofA Customized Cash card because I only had an Amex charge card at the time I think (reasons were “did not have sufficient established revolving credit accounts,” “low credit limits,” etc.). Since August 2025 I have an Amex Bonvoy Brilliant with a USD 25k credit line, very low utilization, and perfect payment history. I have also banked with BoFA for about two years.

My score is around the mid-700s, but my only revolving card is still under a year old. Would you recommend waiting until the Bonvoy card is 9–12 months old before applying, or does the existing BofA banking relationship materially improve approval odds?

Where are you based? If it is convenient for you to visit a Bank of America branch, I would do so and discuss your situation with the branch manager.

I got the Bank of America Flying Blue Visa, 3000 limit, with a basically my first US credit card score, (5 months of history). But they did give me a 1000 USD customized cash card with 0 history once i opened my bank account in person with a pay check... I did meanwhile also open a AmEx card, few months earlier, who gave me a 10k balance based on my European card.
So yeah i would just go to a Bofa location and ask what they can do for you.

Do we know if someone who already has the card and gets the second one would have any chance at getting approval XP bonus, or is that not an option and you will only get the bonus miles with the new offer?

When does BOA send the SUB miles to AF? Is it just after the statement where the min spending is met? When do they generate that statement? 30 days after approval???

I believe they stopped accepting applications for the Mastercard version.

(In any event the Mastercard would be converted to a Visa)

Unfortunately, the fine prints say Only new customers are eligible for this offer

"New Account Bonus Miles and XP Offer. Limit one opening of account XP bonus offer per Flying Blue member for each Air France KLM credit card account opened within a 24 month period. ......... Limit one bonus miles and XP offer per new account. This one-time promotion is limited to customers opening a new account in response to this offer and will not apply to requests to convert existing accounts. "

Can you provide a screenshot of that language? I'm not seeing it.

What I am seeing is this:

"Limit one opening of account XP bonus offer per Flying Blue member for each Air France KLM credit card account opened within a 24 month period. You will qualify for 70,000 bonus miles and 100 XP if you use your new credit card account to make any combination of purchase transactions totaling at least $3,000 (excluding any fees, such as the annual fee) that post to your account within 90 days of the account open date."

The Visa version was released today and the Mastercard version is gone. So you are right, they have officially stopped accepting applications for the Mastercard today. However I could get to the Mastercard application page until yesterday, and sometimes a working link for an old version stays around for some time. I was hoping somebody is aware of such a link.

Well, I'm PfL now, so that 160 XP means no real change for me but that's more than 50% of XPs required for Platinum. This will make obtaining PfL much easier for folks in the US.

It depends, if they fly outside of USA, then yes.

Otherwise you need to fly many flights in Y (earning 2XP) per segment to get the remaining 140 xp

As a US-based flyer, I've found that all 3 major US carriers (including DL) often have discounted domestic F (counted as J worldwide) offers. With 1 connection each way, that's 24xp for a domestic trip. These domestic F tickets can be found for less than a 25% increase compared to regular Y. A few of these trips can easily get one to Flying Blue Platinum. Of course, with the revamped BoA CC, this is now even easier.
