ywg-yyz and return
First time having the premium meals on WJ. YWG-YYZ I was not expecting a meal- it just said snack on the ticket and the flight is less than 2hr30min. Had the gyoza- they smelled delicious and tasted even better. Best meal I've ever had on a plane. I never would have expected for them to reheat well. On the way back I had the pierogies which were fine- still better than most slop I've been served. Loved the nuts from the snack basket too, I'm going shopping today to see if I can find them locally.

A few recent meals in Premium (YXE-YYZ)

YXE-YYZ (5am departure). Menu offered. Hot towel service. Great crew (proactively offering many Mimosas). Snack basket closer to arrival.

YYZ-YXE. Can't recall what the dish was called. Menus were offered. Late night flight so not a lot of interaction with the crew.

That is the French Onion Salisbury Steak. I'm not personally a fan. But I am even less of a fan of Funghi Ravioli that is the other alternative on that menu.

I encourage all of you Platinum and Gold members and frequent Premium flyers to contact WestJet and tell them your opinions on the various food and drink offered in Premium and offer suggestions of food and drink you would like to see! Your input is invaluable!

After many years of being stuck with Diet Coke, I was surprised to see Coke Zero available on some recent flights. When did that start?

Two years ago? I can't tell you how many times in the past two years I've been told it was only regular or Diet Coke, no Coke Zero. Is this poorly trained FAs, like those who've had no idea what Glenlivet was or told me they definitely didn't have it (setting aside those many dark months when it was gone)? Or...?
I wouldn't say I enjoy it, but since they don't have Diet Pepsi, Coke Zero is the least worst option.

10/6/25 YYC-LAX in Premium Cabin (Afternoon Dep.)
Great flight with great service. 2:55p departure from Calgary. Bottle of water provided at every seat up front.
Ordered the meatballs with rigatoni. They only had 4 pierogi dishes. Sadly the person behind me in row 3 was vegetarian and they were already out by the time they got to them. Picked up a Mars bar from the snack basket after the meal.

YYZ-YWG 10/10: Had the chicken souvlaki which was quite delicious. And from what I could hear almost everyone ordered the same, later I heard the FA talking about the truffle pasta (but did not hear what they thought of it). FA handed out the menus saying "here is your breakfast/lunch/brunch choices, or whatever you want to call it".
Snack basket passed around with encouragement to take a couple items "to get your money's worth". Items in the snack basket: Original Miss Vickies, Handfuel Maple Mixed Nuts, Kind Oat Bar, Mars bar, Kit Kat. (I think that was everything in there?) The Mars bar was the hot item in the basket.
Attentive service, friendly FA. Great flight all around.

YWG-YYZ 10/14: Went for the shepherd's pie. Regrettable choice - it was swimming in grease and flavourless. I pushed the potato around and tried to use the fork to strain the beef/veg (wishing I ordered the kung pao with each bite.) And at first I thought my salad dressing was missing from the tray but later found it was on the bottom of the salad.
Bun was warmed up and might have been the highlight of this meal. Snack basket passed around although no Mars bars at all this go round.
Wouldn't say it's the worst meal I've had on WJ but it's definitely on my "no-go" list for future reference.

A recent YQR-YYZ breakfast flight offered the following. It was fine, but the heated dish was very oily, which was unappealing. Certainly not YQR catering's best work.

Breakfast menu

Egg frittata
