Beloved it is LE Gavroche - but as it was probably coined by Victor Hugo - I will not have you at the back of the class.

You are quite right that some seem to think that we should be in some sort of gastronomic paradise for a meal. Since Le Gavroche closed in January last year maybe we are a little behind the times?

I was going to suggest BA could offer up a Malaysia Airlines style Nasi Lemak for breakfast but then I remembered it comes with a hard boiled egg - doh! But I also suspect it a) it wouldn't appeal to BA's average customer base outside of the odd Asian route, and B), BA won't pay Do&Co enough to make a decent version of it.

I am not massively keen on eggs on planes but I've always thought the cold plate CE breakfast dishes like smoked salmon and charcuterie were pretty decent. So if you take them, other than offering a large fruit plate I'm not sure what else can be offered for breakfast time that won't have eggs in it. A large bowl of cereal with milk would no doubt create howls of outrage on both this forum and social media. Best bet is to do what I do and avoid early morning flights unless there's no alternative!

you lose credibility and respect when you make it a personal slight. The suggestion was simply for variety and for an airline to offer more varied choice. Thank you. Manners, on the other hand, cost nothing, not even a single Avios

*note, I chose to ignore the your vs you’re faux pas… to avoid egg on their face….

i addressed your comment on meals which you thought should have "variety and creativity", i tried to do it in a way which was perhaps a little colourful in order to make my point. if you think my comment was a personal slight, you quite simply do not understand what a personal slight is.

i am perfectly happy with my level of credibility and manners thanks

Lets stop throwing eggs (or tofu) at each other and go back to discussing whether a single prawn cut in half is suitable nourishment to be classed as a meal or other such fascinating conversations.

CE between LON & BER - No catering *again*

Just received a text advising no catering - food or, more importantly, drinks - on BA999 this AM. This will be the 3rd time in less than a year that I have flown CE between BER and either LHR or LCY and there has been no catering. Moreover, said text was conveniently timed to prevent some CE passengers from obtaining vouchers, there being no BA service desk airside at BER. Is it just my bad luck or are there underlying operational issues here?

Dont know the answer to your question, but am interested in knowing what compensation you have claimed (and whether it is the same for each occasion). Thanks.

I got 5k Avios on at least 2 if not all 3 occasions. Today I was credited within a few hours of lodging a claim, but BA may have decided to apply the goodwill anyway.

Flying Qatar, I enjoyed a bowl of cereal alongside many non-egg options. Honestly, I would find a bowl of cornflakes with sliced banana very refreshing. If there is plenty of choice, no one needs to howl. It's the obsession with eggs that makes many people howl. It's the assumption that everyone wants eggs for breakfast that makes egg-haters howl. That assumption is so American. BA is not an American airline. There are so many things BA could serve but, no, they lack imagination (as do many people posting on here).

I see my earlier response to KARFA was edited, but I stick to my view that it is faux naive to ask others to explain what other options exist. I'm sure it's not difficult to think for yourself

I think the community view would be that posts which (repeatedly) howl about BAs menu choices without offering any alternative suggestions would be significantly enriched if they did. If its really not difficult to devise a BA breakfast menu thats compatible with airline systems of preparation, storage and service, is universally acceptable and doesnt cause issues with allergens and intolerances, then why not do it ?

I think perhaps you mean that it would enrich the imaginations of those that lack them?

I think perhaps you should look at the reason that FlyerTalk exists. Giving examples or providing alternative suggestions and solutions is the very requirement of an interactive flying community! Others views and opinions are valuable and we should seek to encourage their posting, unless they contravene any rules of course
