Just to kick start a wiki, with answers to frequent questions.
1. We're flying HND-NGO-HNL. NGO-HNL is booked in business class, but HND-NGO is in economy. Will we still get the baggage allowance as if we're flying business class the whole way?
A: Yes. written here (link)
2. We're flying HND-NGO-HNL. Will we have lounge access in HND?
A. Definitely, within the lounge access rules of course. written here (link)

I got this error too. I just changed it to a nearby city name in the same zip code, and it liked that one. No idea why...

If let's say I book CTS-HND-MNL with JMB. And let's say I need to reschedule, not all the schedule. I just need to drop the CTS-HND segment. I will still fly the HND-MNL segment. Is that possible? Is there any policy like when is the latest x hours before departure I can still reschedule it?

Thanks!

You will need to cancel the entire reservation and rebook

Got it! Based on your experience, how fast the inventory will be back after I cancel the trip? And if I choose the refund, is the JMB miles will be instantly back to my acc?

The miles will be refunded to your account almost instantly. The availability is a more tricky point, no guarantee that you will see it coming back to inventory.

Booked J on JAL from KIX-HND-CDG through American Airlines.

Couple questions:
  1. My KIX flight departs at 6:45am. Since I’m connecting to an international business class flight, will I get any kind of expedited security at KIX? I’m currently booked at the Hyatt Caption Osaka, but wondering if it’s easier to just cancel my last night and stay at Hotel Nikko Kansai to simplify the early morning.
  2. Will I need to collect my bags and re-check at Haneda, or will they be checked through to CDG? Do I have to re-clear security or just change terminals at HND?
Thanks for any tips!

Priority security at KIX will be based on the class of your departing flight, or your status. So unless you have OW Sapphire or above, regular security.
I would consider staying at KIX. Your first train is 5:15 from Namba, which is a 5:58 arrival at the airport. Which should be fine, but just very early.

Your bags will be checked through to CDG. You can take a bus from airside T1 by gate 91. But you will still need to go through security and passport control in T3. You can also use the free inter terminal bus, or get a free ticket for the monorail or Keikyu to change terminal.

Unfortunately, KIX domestic security lane is only for elite passengers and priority guests (i.e. those requires assistance)

https://www.jal.co.jp/jp/en/dom/airport/kix/

Information about the passengers eligible to use the priority lanes at the domestic security checkpoints at Kansai Airport
At Kansai International Airport, due to the security checkpoints shared with other airlines, the priority lanes are used in the same manner as those used by other airlines. Please kindly understand that there are differences from other airports.
※Eligible passengers: Priority Guests, JMB Diamond, JGC Premier, JMB Sapphire members, oneworld elite status Emerald and Sapphire members
It will be checked through to CDG. Just make sure you use the check-in counters for international connecting when you check in for your KIX-HND flight.

There's an airside transfer from T1 to T3 at HND but I've never done it before.

I have a HND-JFK fight coming up with my wife, son and I on an AA ticketed itinerary and my FIL on a JAL ticket, all in I class business. We'll have our Qatar numbers in the ticket but I have enough JAL miles to upgrade one of the tickets to F. It looks like the easiest thing will be to upgrade my FIL to avoid splitting the other ticket up..

Right now it's showing F2. How does JAL allocate miles upgrade tickets, are the pulled from the same award bucket as normal F tickets? Unfortunately I am not able to use the website functionality to monitor upgrades because you have to have your JAL MB number in the ticket before the online upgrade option will become available. Looking for a way to jump on the upgrade if it becomes available in advance vs. calling the call center to check on a daily basis. Do they open up the last seat to upgrades day of travel if not in advance?

Just put your FIL on upgrade waitlist. The upgrade availability is not the same as F bucket. It uses the A bucket and is not the same as cash A bucket.

Question re seat reservation when booking through Finnair - I'm looking to book JL43 and 44 on the Finnair site but I can't find a clear answer re. seat reservation. Will likely be doing J and F and doing a dummy booking I can see I won't be able to reserve seats through Finnair but will I be able to reserve on JAL site after booking? Or will I need to call JAL to get it done? Or is it only going to be available at online check in?

Appreciate any info!

If this is marketed by JAL, i.e. JL coded, you should be able to use the same Amadeus PNR from AY to access your booking on JL website and make your seat selection. Otherwise officially you will have to deal with AY for the seat assignment but can still try if you can access the seat map on JL website

https://faq-en.jal.co.jp/app/answers/detail/a_id/26696

If you have booked a flight operated by JAL aircraft and crew under another airline's flight number, please contact the original booking source or the airline with which you made the reservation.
After 24 hours before the flight departure, you may be able to reserve a seat on Online check-in.

Am I able to put him on the wait list if his Qatar number is the FF on the ticket and the miles are coming out of my JAL account?

When I called I got a very nice lady that told me it was definitely possible to upgrade from my account but she did not offer to put him on a wait list, just told me to call back.

Hi all, really confusing situation here. I booked a return from HND <> LHR recently on the BA website, both legs flown by JAL. I am a JAL crystal + platinum card holder and have enrolled in tour premium. I've used this site to calculate my FOP and for my HND > LHR flight I got the correct 2892/1866 miles/FOP (i.e. this was a 30% fare). However for the return flight I got 4821/3510 miles/FOP. This is in correspondence to the 50% fare, but without the tour premium enrollment. It should have been 7931/3510 (i.e. more miles). I see that the HND > LHR flight was posted as JL44, but the leg out was posted as BA4603. Is this why I didn't get the extra miles? And if so, why was it posted as this and not the JAL number, given that both flights were on the same reservation and both flown by JAL?

Thanks!
