Property underwent renovation in 2015-2016, so no longer a dump. Exec lounge open on the weekends.
You do not need to pay for the Hoppa to get to the property. You can take some public buses (ie, 105, 111, 140) to/from the Ren,as it's in the 'free zone'. The Heathrow free travel zone has been suspended indefinitely effective January 1, 2021. Standard fares now apply. No cash accepted on TfL buses and one card per person is required. You cannot use the same contactless card for more than one person.

Traveling with my 97 year old mom so Uber or Taxi only options.
Arriving T5 on a Saturday night around 8pm.
Any estimate of Taxi and/or Uber fare from T5 to Renaissance?
Is Uber from T5 easy to obtain for such a (short) ride?

At those prices try Bolt, FREENOW or 20 to a black cab
its a 3 mile journey 30+ is robbery (20 is robbery but black cabs would rather take a job somewhere further so got to make it worth their while)
Is the 5 a person Hotel Hoppa bus not an option at all?

Depends how busy the taxis are, prices can fluctuate. The cheapest I've seen it on the app today was around 25.

6 one nighters in 2023 and never one posted correctly. Long documented unfortunately and with the cheapest rate those who don't keep up to date/track (like myself) will just forget about it lol). I guess I should adhere to a system like you or everyone else if I'm hotel bound instead of a "home" 😂
Otherwise, my stay was quite pleasant, but rooms are rather small, so if I decide to stay again, I will go for suite.

Stayed here as an overnight back to BOS on VS
Rooms are clean and modern. Hate the tub - who takes a bath at any hotel these days ? Plus this one is the usual high step in at many UK hotels - makes it dangerous.
The lounge offers a Happy Hour (actually 2 hours) that has beer and wine but no spirits . The food part is not the usual feeding frenzy of serve yourself from trays of food . It is plate of a 4 starter pieces and a desert. It (and the beer/wine) is served by staff You really can't sub this for a light dinner.
The plan was to eat at the VS Clubhouse before the flight so didn't look too hard at brekkie offerings, but my remembrance was that it was on the light side. I would look at the restaurant for breakfast if you have elite status.
We have stayed here a few times and fine it OK for a one nighter. Nothing warm and charming but it is a high volume airport hotel. Housekeeping is in constant motion all day.
Airport offered transport to T3 for 23 pounds. 10 minutes to T3

Having said that, even then I don't think there would be enough food to forego an evening meal - they are intended as appetisers, rather than a full meal.
The attached photo is from 2023, obviously YMMV, but I would need several plates to call it a meal as they are tiny. ;-)

In my experience in several stays at the hotel, the staff in the lounge are very obliging, so I am sure they would if you asked.

We spent several nights at the hotel a few months ago. As others have indicated the evening service was at one's table rather than buffet-style. Each person received a small plate of appetizers similar to the one shown, plus a cheese plate for two and an assortment of small desserts each. We found it sufficient having had large lunches most days. Service was extremely friendly, with staff recognizing guests on subsequent days and offering to bring "the usual" beverages in addition to seconds on the food being offered. It was a fairly good experience, contrasting with breakfast which borders on pitiful. First, there is no hot food whatsoever - I'm sure they used to have at least scrambled eggs. Breakfast is also unstaffed, although someone stops by occasionally to check on things but replenishment is not their forte. Food consists of cold meat and cheeses, a few pastries (usually well picked-over), juice and coffee/tea. They had small fruit cups on one of four days, with only the empty cups another and no sign they had been there at all on the rest. I like this hotel but next time will be sure to purchase a rate with included breakfast.
Also, addressing the bathroom comment above, there are some of the renovated rooms that have eliminated the high tub in favor of a walk-in shower but you have to specify you want a shower "cubicle". I learned this the hard way after arriving from a late evening flight, confirming my room had the requested shower, only to find the dreaded tub. As most know, this place is a maze of hallways and the best rooms are a long way from the front desk, so we waited until the next day to swap rooms. The new showers are quite acceptable but wording is the key.

I also did an overnighter there on Wednesday evening. Had the same issue with the tub (no issue for me now but in 15 years??). Breakfast in the restaurant is preferable over the lounge and the Hotel Hoppa is usually decently reliable to both T2 and T5.
The points posting thing is still an annoyance. 117 and I got 44 base points plus the 75% Titanium bonus (+1,000 welcome gift).
