Two last names -

This is so stressful (needless to say) . Less them 48 hrs i booked a flight online using Aeroplan points and just notice
only one of my last names is showing on receipt I got via email. I know ive entered my two last names on forms but only the sec entered is showing and since both names are showing in my passport. i am wondering if I shouldt contact Aeroplan or Aircanada or take the risk and wait and see at check in. i often have issues feeling up forms because there is only space for one name.Any tips and ideas from you would be very appreciated.
BTW its an international flight to AUS with UA

Name Change on Ticket (One Letter)

Has anyone had any experience of a booking with one letter difference to the name of one of the passengers?

It's an extra "S" in the middle name of one of the passengers.

The complication arises from the fact it is an Air Canada flight booked through United.

United have said they cannot delete the one letter due to it causing a cancellation on Air Canada's side, but they have put a note on the reservation and this can be seen by airport staff and security and won't cause any issues.

Air Canada cannot delete the letter as booked through United, but then say that they cannot see any notes and that even with a note it can't be guaranteed we will be denied boarding.

Any experience of similar?

PS: I promise I did try and search for a name change thread first - thanks for merging.

My understanding is that Immigration usually allow for small keypunch errors in names on ticket versus passports. I cannot see how this would cause an issue if its a single letter in a middle name and all other information including DOB check out. Plus multiple pasengers on the reservation.

Yes reading through this I think United are probably correct in that as long as we have the right passport and everything but one extra letter matches out we should have no issue. Will just get there earlier in case.

I just dealt with this situation with LH and AC. LH had absolutely no issues with a one or two letter problem, but AC was resolute in their position that it was unacceptable and they would not let the pax board. LH couldnt understand ACs stance, it was a whole thing that had no resolution. Quite frustrating!

That said if its an AC issued ticket they said they would normally be willing to fix it.

It's a United ticket on AC.

What did you do in your situation?

It's effectively middle name "Douglass" vs "Douglas"

Bought another ticket, and have been arguing for a refund on the original for a bit.

With more time, the original ticket should have been fixed, but for whatever reason LH just went in circles on that.

Is AC the only airline that doesnt just accept a letter or two mistake?

Checking and the tickets are the same price but it's non-refundable so United probably wouldn't allow that.

They are insistent that a note on the reservation will be fine for such a small error.

Was this before flying while communicating with CSRs or at the airport someone refused checking-in/boarding?
