If so, do I need to speak to a rep, or can I do this online? Thanks.
I am not sure if QR offers to use Avios as a co-pay in the same style as BA, and you can lower the cash out of the higher booking class ticket, but you should see that as part of your payment process.

But once the ticket is issued, no that's not an option.

The voucher allows you to use the full value of the ticket for a future booking but does not circumvent all of the penalties of the original ticket. You should probably expect any future refund of the voucher to be subject to the same cancellation penalty as taking the refund now.

There are quite a few terms applicable to these vouchers and not all tickets are eligible. It's worth reading the full T&C's towards the bottom of this link before deciding to use that option:

Newbie to Qatar here (Two of us flying in J DUB to HKT, BKK to DUB). Should I pay for seat selection? Or how many Avios do you need for seat selection? Currently have 20,000 in BA account but can transfer from EI if needed

Obviously you don't have any status with Qatar, but If you hold One World Status Sapphire or higher then my understanding is that it's free at any time, regardless of fare bucket.

Business Comfort and Elite buckets are free at all times. Otherwise, if your tickets are in P Business Lite or R Business Classic buckets then you need to wait until 72 hours before departure of each flight for them to become free.

Keep an eye on the seat maps via Manage My Booking, and only splash out for reservations if the seat map is filling rapidly and the chances of leaving it to 72 hours before departure to get two seats together looks bleak. Remember there will be others in the same boat, so be prepared to log into MMB exactly 72 hours before your departure from DUB to bag two together if still available.

it will depend on the ticket you purchased. If youve booked business class light then no you will only get access for a fee

As already (and correctly) posted up thread, a business class ticket booked with avios (as opposed to an upgrade), comes with lounge access. Business Lite or P (which does not have lounge access) is a paid fare and not to be confused with a ticket booked with avios alone.

Have asked this question before but did not get a satisfactory answer, so shall try again. We would like to use the buggy service in transit to go from the arrival area (wherever that may be) to Al Safwa and then later from Al Safwa to the departure gate. We would not like to use the wheelchair service and are willing to pay for the costs. Have written to Al Maha but they only ever offer their fixed packages. Any suggestions? We are Platinum Members if that makes any difference.

BA Avios / Tier Claim

Hi All

I recently had the return leg of a BA flight cancelled (business class) and i was put on a SAS flight, who are not a one world partner. I upgraded my original flight to business with the purpose of helping me get towards the next tier status and have not received any tier points or avios for that changed flight.
So i have two questions if I may...
Can i claim the avios and tier points as the cancellation was not down to me - if so how do i claim?
The equivalent service on SAS is not a full business service i.e. you only get standard class food from the inflight menu (though it's free) and standard seating (no middle seat free). Therefore can i claim that this is not a direct replacement for the cost paid?

Many thanks

Should this question be over in the BA forum?

You can claim for Original Routing Credit but would need to claim through the FF programme you wish to credit to.

Whether you have been downgraded or not may be debatable if you were accommodated in SAS's Business Class, but if so would probably be a separate claim under EC/UK 261

While SAS Plus is in many ways an inferior product to Club Europe on BA, you were reaccommodated in the premium class option on SK. From a cabin class definition on European legs SK Plus is flagged as business class so I doubt you will get very far with UK/EU261 downgrade claim. You would also not get downgrade comp if you were moved from Q Suites to BA Club Wolrd.

By "arrival area" do you mean the arrival gate or transit security? If transit security, you have a 50/50 chance of being able to get to Al Safwa by elevator directly from transit security, depending on the arrival gate.

Also, regarding Al Maha service, what part of the package do you not want/like?

From what I can see, the buggy service is available only as a paid-for add on to a booked Al Maha package. But it is not available for the transit packages. So despite being eligible for the free Al Maha transit as a platinum, unless the poster can find a third party offering buggy only, they may have to walk...

QRPC PLT does get a 10% discount on additional Al Maha services.

Upgrade availability not matching award ticket availability

In the past I have always looked at availability of award tickets (for the specific leg) to check upgrade availability. But today this did not work. I found available award tickets from DOH to HKG on the flight on which I am booked, but when I tried to upgrade the QR website (and the QR WhatApp service chat) told me there was no upgrades available. A consequence of this is that it is not possible to check upgrade availability before booking.

Has any one else experienced this? In the past I have always been able to upgrade if award tickets are available.
