EE - did you redeem points for this stay? I've seen rewards rooms pop up a few times for my dates, but I was concerned about getting stuck in a non-renovated room and the room description was different than what I understand the renovated rooms to be from prior posts.
What room did you ultimately get? If this was 12,000 points, I agree it's totally worth it.

Thanks for the update, EE and Osaka Wino! I am unable to like your posts in this thread. EE, the hotel is (and has been for a long time) Cat 4, so your 12k redemption is the low season price. Standard would be 15k, and high 18k. It remains to be seen if the hotel will stay at Cat 4 after the renovation is completed (and considering hotel prices in Tokyo these days).

Honestly, I liked the Hyatt Regency Tokyo - Im sure it will increase in category at some point, but 12K in Tokyo feels like a steal for a new and modern room.
I would rather stay here than HC Ginza - cue the debate ;-)
Note: I did not realize that the hotel is connected via tunnels to Shinjuku Station itself - majorly increases convenience (though, its a 15 minute speedy walk), especially during rain
I would come back.

The tunnel connection to Shinjuku station is very convoluted and I always got lost. It is much easier to walk straight by the side of the hotel and the park, about two blocks later, the it is covered and with one way people moving walkway.
It is weird, why can't people like your post?

Amazing how people are talking about this property needing to raise it's category and the prices it's charging and nay but a short while ago, it was forecast to be shut down permanently and was cutting costs and amenities left and right.

Thank you for the review and update. The renovated rooms look nice. I always like staying at this hotel for the price and location, especially when they used to have the pool and the shuttle. The Oedo line is fine. Looks like they really moved everything around. The club lounge used to be in the lower floors and now is on 28th? Is the 5th floor front desk permanent or just temporary. I like those rooms in the middle facing the park (I always ask for 20 stack rooms). I have seen Mt Fuji a few times and also the moon rising over the high rise across is wonderful too. I think Fall has the best chance to see Mt Fuji from the room.

The liking is an ongoing bug with some threads on desktop browsers.
The interior connection is not easy, but it sure was nice on a rainy night!

I don’t think anyone here is rooting for Hyatt to adjust the Category upwards. But have you looked at rates in Tokyo recently? It’s completely nuts!
Also, thanks to everybody who contributed! I can’t “like” posts in this thread.

I have a stay planned here for late March with a SUA applied and just received an email from the hotel notifying me that due to the renovations there are no suites available during my stay. As a result they are reassigning me to a renovated King Park View Corner Studio, which looks pretty nice based on the room description and photos they shared:
"Enjoy the panoramic view of Shinjuku Central Park in a spacious and elegant 64-square-meter room that embodies the essence of Shinjuku, combining Japanese traditional techniques in a modern manner. Relax and revive in a room offering a plush king bed, two sofa beds, large bath and separate shower, complimentary wi-fi access, and high-definition flat-screen TV."

What do you think - should I ask for any form of compensation, or ask for a specific view or floor? It's going to be my first stay at this hotel. Thanks!
