In the club now…it’s marginally improved in terms of space and seating options.
- check-in desks are flipped to the other side of the hall from where they were
- new seating area where the check-in desks used to be. 6 small tables and a couple of seating groups. New style furniture
- new seating room open immediately to the left as you walk back. A bunch of individual carrels and some of the individual seats with the high walls. And a work bench. Also the new style furniture
- bar is open
- rest is pretty much the same as before. Two small food service areas, main seating areas still have the old furniture. No freestyle beverage machine but there is a old school dispenser with individual taps in the second food service area.
- hot food in here now is shredded bbq chicken, mac and cheese and cornbread.
certainly not a full remodel, but they did add some seats and newer furniture. And some good options for solo travelers.

Totally disagree. That was my go-to place during connections. No booze and no actual seats in the room itself, just stand up tables, but those were the only disadvantages. Otherwise, it was better than the regular ACs. Never more than a couple of people in there, always had at least two agents who were never busy, and better food. Soups plus decent grab and go sandwiches, salads, drinks, snacks, etc. I miss it. I wish they had kept it after they reopened the CD club. Perfect for tight connections.

The Delta SkyClub opens on concourse A today.
According to news reports, it is 14000 SF and seats about 250, with expected traffic of 400-450 guests per day. Looks really nice from the pictures.
by contrast, Admirals Club at C/D is 23000 SF. Not sure what the capacity is. And it can hardly be described as “nice”
pretty embarrassing for AA that Delta has will have a much nicer lounge for their 7 gates than AA has at a major hub….but it’s consistent with how AA treats CLT.

Yeah, the A terminal at CLT is like when the first new terminal opened, pre-pandemic, at LGA. Think it was also A there. Like being in a completely different airport.
though the new ticketing areas at CLT are decent too, though not useful to connecting pax

Will the Freestyle machines ever come back to CLT? Hate the old school ones they have now (though it’s still better than waiting at the bar for a soda).

They are actually going to build widen them, as well as build 'ends' to B and C.

The new A gates are certainly a fair walk to get to, but they feel like they are in a completely different airport than the rest of CLT. It’s a shame there aren’t any plans to widen the existing concourses (yes, I know that would be a challenge, but DL is currently doing that for one concourse at ATL). Of course, that would go against AA’s whole strategy at CLT, which is to keep passenger costs low.

Google lens tells me it's the airport layout plan at the CLT airport website
https://www.cltairport.com/airport-info/
scroll to the bottom, click on AIRPORT LAYOUT PLAN
detailed notes show there are 2 phases, for buidings, darker red is phase 1, lighter red is phase 2
The expansion of the terminal that will include the new Admirals Club is thankfully Phase 1, but I don't know the timeline for either phase actually happening.
The area I'm referring to is the rectangular shape shown just "above" the distinctive round rotunda area of the C/D club.
In actuality, the diagram was rotated 90 degrees from true directions....The expanded retail area that will go next to the rotunda is actually EAST of the rotunda.
The new club will be one level up from that in the new construction, in an area much larger than "Just" the red area. there will be an entire new floor upstairs that is added.
the red is just the new footprint

Lounge Closing Time
Flying to LHR at 12:10am and it looks the lounge closes at 10:45pm? Is that accurate and do they not keep it open for their late Flagship departure? If the lounge closes at 10:45 then the bar closes at 10:30pm. Experiences?
